XMAS BARGAIN!!! 1983 Newbridge Coromandel Junk Rigged Sailing boat. 21ft length 7ft 2in beam Boat is currently berthed at Brighton Marina. Viewings will be taking place on Saturday 18th Dec 1pm - 4pm and Sunday 19th Dec 2021 11pm - 3pm NO TIMEWASTERS PLEASE... Bilge Keel and requiring only 2’ of water to float (60cm!) makes her a great starter boat, or for exploring tidal rivers. Great little boat but she’s what I would consider a light project boat in her current state.
Good points: Junk rigged with a more modern and larger sail. No standing rigging to worry about as the mast is keel stepped. No need to mess around with multiple sails - a very easy system to learn. Metz Antenna at the top of the mast. V Berth at the front, with a fold up sink, and swing out table - plus space for a camp stove.
Headlining has been stripped out, including the old glue (a very messy job!). She now just needs some upholstery carpet applied to the inside (included in the sale). Electrical hookup connected to shore power within the marina - simply top up the account online, and view your current balance on an app (electricity charged at cost in the Marina). Manual bilge pump Includes a few different anchors, and 40m of anchor chain. Berthed in Brighton Marina, with amazing facilities (bathrooms, laundrette etc) and the ability to spend 42 nights a year at their other marinas including Eastbourne, Chichester, Gosport (among others).
The marina is a lovely place to stay for very little money. The bathrooms are immaculate inside the Marina, and there’s a variety of restaurants here. Wi-Fi Internet included within the berthing rates. Currently paying approximately £200 on a monthly basis Not so good points: Needs an outboard (this sits inside a well at the back of the boat and so is locked securely and not visible while in use). She could do with a lift, scrub and some fresh anti-fouling paint.
Window seals need replacing. New seals are included in the sale and just need to be pushed into place. Headlining needs to be applied (material included and the messy part has already been done!) Final comments: These boats are excellent for exploring tidal rivers, drying out on sheltered beaches, or even venturing on longer adventures (many have taken part in the Jester Challenge and have travelled single handed across the Atlantic to the states. The hull is the same as the Corribee, the boat Ellen MacArthur used to circumnavigate the U.K. Lots of info at https://corribee.org/history/coromandel/ It's a lovely boat but i've already brought a larger boat, a Catamaran, so this one needs to go.
IMPORTANT: winning bidder must pay £200 Deposit via bank transfer within 12 hours after auction ends, balance in cash or bank transfer on collection. Advertised elsewhere, so I reserve the right to end this auction early.
