4 Metre Avon Searider Rigid Inflatable Boat Package. This is a no reserve auction, and I will NOT be offering a Buy It Now price. Although this package could be towed away, thrown in the water, and away you go, I would advise looking at the entire thing as a bit of a project. As such, I will go through each item in turn and attempt to give you a complete overview of what you will be getting if you are the winner. The BoatThe boat is in excellent condition for its age, and probably hails from the late 1980's to early 1990's.
The original orange GRP hull is sound and watertight. There are signs of a couple of repairs, but these have been proficiently carried out to maintain the hull integrity. Unusually, for such a small boat, it was at one registered on the small ships register, Number SSR09761. The boat has been set up for day and night running, and has the full compliment of navigation lights which have been partially re-wired. The ignition, start control and Kill switch could use some attention, but everything is available to complete the job.
It has a 25 Litre removable fuel tank which is contoured to live in the nose of the boat, keeping as much weight up front as possible. It is fitted with Tohatsu cable throttle control, and steers by wire. The boat is also set up for towing, and we have had a number of fun times with the inflatable which is included in this sale. The Avon has three inflatable air chambers, one down each side and the nose section. All the air chambers are in good condition, have recently been treated, and do not leak.
Again, due to the age, there are a few repairs to the air chambers, but these have been professionally carried out and you can be confident that they are will not let you down. The under seat lockers offer plenty of storage and have recently been adapted, leaving just one driving seat. This has opened the cockpit up for leaping around and hauling wet passengers back into the boat. The screen of the boat is currently not fitted, and is only good as a template for getting a new screen cut. It got damaged in a storm some months ago.
The EngineThe engine is a 1:100 2 Stroke 40Hp Yamaha 75BR in almost original condition. However, if you lift the lid, you will note that I have grafted a mini starter solenoid in there to replace the old failed one. The engine starts and runs well propelling the boat through the water with ease. I would advise that the winner spends a bit of time and attention on servicing. A new impeller, and a change of gearbox oil would certainly not do any harm, and I am sure that a real dedicated mariner will find other bits and pieces that need doing.
It's a good working old engine in need of some TLC. The TrailerThe Trailer is purpose made for the boat, and has a winch for launch and recovery. It is a sound trailer that tows really well, but like the rest of the package, it could do with a few hours TLC to bring it back to its former glory. The rear roller has recently detached, and it needs a bit of good metal welded in to make it strong once more. Easy to launch, and does not require a girt great 4X4 to pull it around.
There is also a wheel clamp with 2 keys. The InflatableThe inflatable is a simple air cushion with grab handles and towing hitch. It is only a couple of years old, and is in excellent condition. It is a huge amount of fun, and all my teens have had a ball being thrown around, and off, the thing. I can't begin to express the joy this has bough to whole family.
You will need to purchase a suitable towing rope. It would be remiss of me not to mention safety. Water sports are dangerous, and if you are the winner, please make sure you give adequate consideration to yours and others safety. No safety equipment is supplied with this boat. You are invited, even encouraged, to come and have a look.
The boat is located in BN3 postcode. Happy to answer any questions except the one for the Buy It Now price. Payment upon collection preferred.
