Normal 0 false false false EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE I have owned this boat for around 4 years. It was purchased privately by myself, and used for pleasure rides for myself and my family, and also used for Scouting trips to remote areas of Scotland. It is a sturdy boat and we have used it in fairly rough seas without any issues, but it is also excellent on flat water. It is a relatively large powerboat, with room for around 10 people if you were to squeeze in, or comfortable for around 6 people with dive equipment plus the pilot. No formal training is legally needed to pilot it, although I have taken my RYA Powerboat Level 2 qualification which I would highly recommend anybody who is inexperienced with piloting powerboats to take.
My family is growing quickly and our needs are changing, so we are looking to upgrade to a larger, more sedate boat, hence the sale. Auction includes: Avon Sea Rider 5.4m RIB Inflatable Since I purchased this boat I have carried out a lot of work on the hull and sponsons. Black non-slip patches, new rubber handle cleats, a new fender strip and new life-lines have been fitted to the sponsons. New LED navigation lights and a new fuel tank have been fitted, and the seat has been rebuilt. A complete new steering system (wheel, cable, hub) has been installed as the old one was clogged up and difficult to turn – it now turns easily and is a joy to pilot.
The boat is ideal for pleasure cruises, fishing, watersports, or as a club safety boat or dive boat. It is fast, manoeuvrable, reliable, and easy to handle. It is easy to store at home and light enough to tow behind most family cars. The boat has a double hull, of which the outer one is intended by the manufacturer to be flooded. When the flooding port is opened the boat will become more stable and lower in the water while stationery or idling (ideal for fishing or diving), but the water will leave the double hull as speed increases and the boat goes up on the plane, allowing more manoeuvrability and speed.
If the flooding port is closed then water will not flood the outer hull. This boat is not new, and has marks as would be expected on any boat of her age. Mercury 125HP 4 cylinder outboard. Year 2003. Serial no: OP210095 Outboard is in good condition, starts every time.
125HP is at the very top end for this class of boat, which means that it can achieve over 40kts, which is very fast indeed. While idling this outboard uses 2+2 technology which shuts down two of the cylinders at low speed for less fuel usage. Please see this video showing the outboard starting and running. Road trailer. This excellent trailer has recently had new axles, hubs and wheels fitted.
Fully road legal, MAM 750kg. A new winch has also been installed very recently.
