1984 Avon Searider SR4. The boat is a true one off, having been completely refitted new for old less than 2 years ago. Comes on a custom fitted Extreme trailer, and a custom made Seaswan cover which can be used for trailing. The boat has had no more than about 50 hours use since being refitted. Selling due to lack of use and funding other projects.
The boat has the original hull and tubes and has never been patched. Holds air pretty much indefinitely. Aside from the hull and tubes, everything else has been replaced new for old in the last 2 years including: 2020 brand new Tohatsu 50hp EFi, 5 years left of the 7 year warrantyGenuine twin 26 litre Tohatsu fuel tanks, outboard lock, water separatorBrand new Tohatsu gear controls and cablesBrand new steering wheel, cables, fittingsBrand new windscreen2 x brand new grey marine leather folding bucket seatsFully rewired with all new parts including battery and switchgearIcom fixed VHFGarmin Chartplotter / sounder with clearvue transducerRev counter / trim gauge 12v and USB charging pointsNav / running / anchor lightsCustom A Frame with concealed wiringUnderseat stowageOriginal Avon pump in working order (not that it gets much use)Bow painter / docking lines / fendersCustom fitted Extreme roller trailer, brand new in 2020Custom made Seaswan cover brand new last yearAll electrics and mechanics professionally supplied and fitted by Bill Higham Marine and Ash Marine. This is not a DIY job. This is a true one-off boat which is admired wherever it goes.
In its current setup it will easily cruise at 25 knots at 2/3 throttle using about 6 ltrs of fuel an hour. Handles the renowned Solent chop with ease and will track like its on rails. The motor starts on the button, pumps well and is smooth and powerful. I have kept the original flooding hull, just preference on my part. The boat also has a rubber keel band to allow you to beach without damaging the gelcoat.
Floor and transom are solid as you would expect. Much loved and admired little boat which combines the charm of the original SR4, but with the electronics and engine of a brand new boat. Very reluctant sale, but I cannot justify keeping something like this that is just not getting the use it deserves. It's time for her to go to someone who will appreciate what she is, and will use her regularly. I have taken her on rivers, the Solent, and even the Scottish West Coast where she performs admirably every time.
Has to go, space needed for another project. Now for the boring bit, apologies in advance to all you genuine classifieds board users, I am sure you understand and share my pain but I have been messed about too many times in the past. Please no silly offers, no PX or swaps. Do not bid if you are not going to buy. If you wish to view please do so before bidding / winning.
If you win then you buy. Do not win then come and try to haggle on price or 'do a deal'. Cleared funds must be in my account before I release the boat. Yes I really have had people win an item, then say it is 'subject to viewing'. Also had someone once ask if they could send me the money once they had got the item home and tested it.
Yes, I kid you not! Relisted due to non-paying buyer who 'changed their mind'. UK buyers only. Collection only from near Cirencester. Deposit of 50% on auction end with the remainder prior to collection.
