Avon SR4 Searider Rib 4M. Suzuki 50hp Four Stroke. Project

Avon SR4 RIB. Year Unknown. 4m long. This is a good solid RIB with a great reputation for seaworthiness and durability. The Hypalon tubes are in good condition and never lose any air.

The hull is sound. There is a fixed fuel tank under the jockey seat and also a portable fuel tank. The steering is light and free. The stainless steel A frame carries working nav lights. There is a electric bilge pump fitted.

The trailer is very sound. It has rollers for ease of launch and retrieve. It has new wheel bearings, so no worries about towing. There is a bespoke jockey seat and console cover. Light board included.

Now for the interesting bit. The engine is a 2008 Suzuki DF 50 hp. Electronic Fuel Injection and Power Tilt and Trim. It was serviced last spring and had a new impeller fitted. When I ran it up for a pre-season check, it ran beautifully.

However on checking the dipstick, I noticed that there was a very slight cloudiness to the engine oil. I am thinking that it may have some water in it. Having spoken to some people, I have been advised that there are several possibilities for this. Possibly a head gasket leak, but it could possibly just be accumulated condensation and nothing to worry about. The engine starts up easily and runs quietly and smoothly.

It revs up perfectly, pumps plenty of water and engages gears smoothly. It does not overheat. The power trim works perfectly and has no corrosion or oil leaks. It can be demonstrated running. So there it is.

I bought a bigger RIB over the winter and was intending to sell this one anyway. It could be an easy fix, or in fact it could not be a problem at all, but I just don't have time to get it properly checked and I do not want to sell it to someone without being honest. The way it runs, you would never know there is potentially a problem. Viewing/inspection welcome. Cash on collection only.
