Boat Use: Salt Water
2 Videos at the bottom of this description Hi and welcome to my listing for an excellent dive boat. Here we have an Avon Searider or otherwise known as the SR4 .The SR4 stands for search & rescue 4 metre .The Searider is commonly used by the RNLI and Navy search & rescue This is the 4m version and also has the flooding hull optionThe flooding hull works by letting water into the bottom of the hull, it's in a separate chamber under the deck so it's not seen by the passengers and this acts as ballast making the boat more secure while stationary, ideal when divers are moving around the boat or fishermen .When you move off and get on the plane, the water is forced out the back making it an empty hull and lighter . Then when you stop again it refills with water. We have been using this as our dive boat as you can see in the pictures and it's been fantastic. The only reason for selling is that my dive buddy has given it up which means I can only shore dive now.It comes with a nice purpose built launch trolley made especially for us. This has steering and 4 wheels so no strain on the back.We carried it in the back of a long wheelbase transit van and used the trolley to launch it from the slipway.
It does come with a few items as pictured, a pair of collapsible oars, very handy as they take up less room. An anchor with rope, a foot pump and a waterproof container to carry your mobile phone, VHF radio, flares and sandwiches . The engine is NOT included but is available separately, ( for £600 ) it's a brand new !!! 6hp four stroke with it's own built in fuel tank. So again you can save room in the boat without the need for a separate red plastic tank in the boat .
The hull was completely renovated in the summer, knocks and dings repaired and 5 coats of International hull paint It's a very well worn boat and the tubes do show a lot of wear. Some of the handles and stuff are missing and the strake around the middle but obviously this rib is going for a fraction of the cost of a new one so that's to be expected. Note the photos of the bits that show wear on the join between the transom and the tube. The tubes stay inflated for several weeks before they show signs of drooping, then it's just a case of 10 or so pumps in each chamber ( there are 3 ) and it's back up to a nice hard tube. Viewing most welcome in North Devon, M5 J27 near Tiverton .
