Bayliner Cobra 2250

This is an all original Bayliner Cobra 2250 in original spec complete with its original American trailer. When this boat was first shown at a boat show in the USA it was named the Mustang of the boat world, similarly when it was first shown at its first show in the U.K. It was called the E type Jaguar of the boat world. It really took the boat world by storm with other manufacturers asking themselves why they couldn’t design and build a craft like this! It has a sequential hull and a Chevrolet 5.7 V8.When I bought it I was advised to get a power boat level 2 licence, which I did as I found I couldn’t get any insurance without one. The boat was owned by one family in the USA for twenty five years, it was sold to a film company who had a reconditioned engine and drive unit fitted and used it for a “period film”, don’t ask as I don’t know which. It was the sold to its third owners who used it for about three years, I bought it from them and imported it to the U.K. I tried it out on the Thames but it was too fast for that, even on tickover. I then took it down to Lymington for ten days, only then did I find out how fast she was.I used the sat nav on my iPad and it recorded over 60mph. It was fast and stable but if you wanted to, and could find a good wave, you could get it to leap out of the water, but only for a few seconds,…This is a reluctant sale and am only selling as my wife says I need more room for my new projects.This has not been used for three years as I haven’t had time and then Covid,… I haven’t even had the covers off it for two years, if the rain stops I’ll upload some new photos. It has its original cover, the trailer has been converted to U.K. Spec electrics although it does have a 2” hitch so don’t think you can tow it with a 50mm hitch because it won’t be safe, it also weighs about 3500lbs in the trailer (unloaded) so don’t expect to tow it with a 1987 Mini Metro. It also has a Bimini cover, a radio (and antennae) that has never been fitted, fenders, life jackets and a lot of other stuff that I can’t remember,… I haven’t started it in a long time, but it has never failed me yet.Most of the seats need recovering but I never got around to choosing the correct colours and getting it done. This is a 34 year old boat so it is not perfect therefore viewing is highly recommended. If you bid, as in classifieds board rules, you buy. Cash or bank transfer on or before collection only.
