Im 80 and to old to be bothered by stupid questions from people who dont know the difference from a stretcher to a stringer, is there wicking and has it been bled>< Honestly I would rather get a farmer to dig a hole and pay him to cremate this friend of mine! Bought a birchwood boat and removed everything, to inspect and rebuild, to a high spec.Bought a fast fishing boat for the mercedes old school engine. Diesel no blower or electrics to go wrong. Ie once started you have to decompress to stop it .Fully road tested by marine engineers. Nothing to fix!!
Transferred the diesel engine to Birchood. Total rebuild of stringers and stretchers to fit this in(original volvo penta stern hung of course). Marine engineers fitted at local yard.The cockpit is in a primary state of finish. The cables are all sorted, the steering done etc. Engine tested and run(intercooler).
Batteries have been fried by charger! , but in a week or so I will have it running. Old school--starts on the button even without heaters. Parts available world wide!! Xxxxxxxxxxx TRAILER.
This is a launching trailer that I had built for the Birchwood. You can bash it with a sledge hammer, its a really good, bit of kit. I lent the proper winch to someone. The one fitted was to lock the boat, to trail it back and forward from storage yard. Someone at the boatyard has broken a set of rollers off.

Most probably added margin of 25%(thats my way)This is a big lump of boat and a big lump of trailer, I tested it on the river Tyne and you will need to get your ML mercedes quite wet so as not to break the back of anything. My volvo xc90 is fine to run it around town.I am organising for the brakes to be serviced. They have been locked on for three years.If you do buy the boat for the trailer, Two spare wheels, Arr yes it is 4wheeler of course.
BIRCHWOOD INTERCEPTOR. Really I think you are best to go on net.This is a wide high sided vessel that will not tolerate a force 5 against a difficult current, like Lizard Point!! , even an experienced may well be rolled; Absolutely fine to run round torbay, etc etc: Or make a dash to the Channel Islands with a competent skipper. So makes a great day boat, or long haul cruiser. I would hope there is enough torque to pull up two skiers .The cockpit is in basic finish; ie no engineering required.
Side panels/pockets made up.Instrument panel has holes in and is unfinished. Panel on otherside has rudimentary crude repair. That requires finishing. The cabin bed/table requires fibre glassing back in(easy DIY or cheap boat yard fix)The cabin is in a state of undress, it is basically sound. Toilet requires some fibreglass repair.New floor panels(unpainted).Electric cockpit panel is open/off and will require some jigery/pockery for final fit.headlining is half down re electrics.There is no sign of wicking or other problems, WITH THE OVER ENGINEERED HULL!
ENGINE AND OUTDRIVE: The mercedes engine is a six cylinder in line, if you look it up it is the early 100hp.This was a REAL mercedes engine! All parts for this and the water pump and the volvo penta outdrive are readily available---world wide. If you ever wanted to upgrade to 200 or 300hp, the very same block is used so you could drop it into the same hole. That would be pointless, but I want to make the point. Presumably the intercooler would also be interchangable?
Marine diesel is cheap, but this engine will run on chip fat. Just as well, because, use it harshly and it will suck juice like an alcoholic. On the other hand it will cruise all day reasonably enough. Three in line filters are on her so no french b".....s" can dump a load of diesel bug on to you. (twice in two years to me!!) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Why have I spent the price of a brand new vauxhall Corsa on this project.
What price will I get? Well I don't expect much more than a good price for the trailer, That's a realistic guide for you!. So background; I am 80, and I have found it difficult to keep interested, and if I finish it shall I ever use it? Wanted an engine that would run for ever, and would Yawn at a trip to Ireland(i know i know dont tell the coast guard) .Would be able to make a dash to the channel islands at 2000rpm. Would be magic to cruise the french canals.I have bits and pieces all round the house loft and garage ; solar panels, instruments, bilge pumps.
I have documents about where to get all the parts for water pump etc etc. All of which I will round up. I am sure there is much I have left out; I will upgrade as we go. If it does not sell in this 30day listing I will put it up for auction, starting at £3000.You takes your chances on that!! Trust me you have to look at this project, before you talk money.
