MY ABSOLUTE PRIDE AND JOY FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS I never thought I would sell Outrageous 2, she has had so much time money, blood, sweat & tears spent on her to keep her in pristine condition. Always dry stored either in the indoor Drystack at Portsmouth or in my warehouse at home. Always fully freshwater washed down after every use. I brought her in 2005 and did a fairly major reconditioning at that point. Then in 2017/18 decided to do a total keel up replacement of every nut, bolt, screw, wire, pipe, switch, fittings electronics & engine.
I was intending to keep her for another 20+ years but circumstances have unexpectedly changed and I am going to be touring France & the Med for the foreseeable future on my other boat and renting out my house & storage facility. OUTLINE OF WORK DONE All deck fittings removed, including deck, fuel tank, rails & rubbing strip. Fuel tank sent for testing and additional welding done to ensure longevity. Centre console rebuilt to remove old holes & fixing points, then flow coated Dessert Sand to colour match hull. Hull was also sent to have old mounting holes and the odd age related scuff re gel coated.
All pipes, wiring, switches, controls & busbars replaced with marine spec parts, wiring loom replaced with resettable circuit breakers & NMEA2000 backbone. Full schematic wiring diagram supplied. Engine controls fitted using stainless steel hi spec cables. Hydraulic steering pump and ram completely stripped and overhauled with new seals. New helm seat storage box (flow-coated to match hull) fitted with modified genuine Boston Whaler leaning post onto box with hydraulic lid/seat mechanism.
Hull Coppercoat antifouled which gives a hard smooth finish. 25 year expected life the way I use it. Rest of hull machine polished. Upholstery re-covered, custom made stern seat with full width storage below. New larger sized rub rails fitted.
Extra mooring cleats for easier single-handed use. New T-top with canvas top. Easily removed single handed if required. New full length heavy duty canvas cover & separate centre console cover both fit with or without T-top and are used independently. It is a fantastic engine, quiet and powerful with good economy, I have had 45+ knots with best cruise speed for economy at 25 knots. Without doubt the best outboard ever owned and I have had most makes and types and sizes. Has had its first & second services. This year fitted new engine mounted fuel filter and water pump impeller.
Evinrude E-TEC outboard engines require no dealer scheduled maintenance for three years or 300 hours. No inspections or adjustments, no changing gearcase lube, no spring tune-ups - for a full three years, then every three years after that. Winterising just push a button automatically carries this out. These are Euro 6 lowest emission engines. Freshwater flush to hubs, stainless steel brake cables, heavy duty steel wheel arches & 4 extra side steps so easy to board when on trailer. 2 new tyres just fitted no mileage done.
Spare wheel and tyre fitted with locking bolt. Can be towed behind a large car, 4x4 not required! It outperforms any boat of this size, in fact larger ribs are no match for it.
It always gets the most looks & questions/comments wherever we moor up. Only draws 30cm with engine trimmed up so you can explore all the little inlets and beaches, but still get there and back in comfort and at speed. Only used by myself and my family for the last 17 years, my son is an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor & Advanced Power Boat Instructor, this is his goto boat out of all the boats he uses. I doubt another one of these in this condition and spec is available and it truly is a hard decision to part with it but with the opportunity that I have unexpectedly been given, it is the only logical option. However my heart is still trying to persuade me not to sell it!
