Now re listed for a third time due to 3 time wasters who failed to purchase after winning the auction or accepting second chance offer. PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ THE COMPLETE LISTING BEFORE CONSIDERING BIDDING ON THIS ITEM IT HAS BEEN UPDATED NOW THE ENGINE IS RUNNING WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE BEFORE. PLEASE ALSO ENSURE YOU HAVE THE FUNDS TO PAY FOR THE ITEM IF YOU WIN THE AUCTION. The sale is for the boat only THE MOORING IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE Currently moored in the water at a marina on the Medway. For those of you that have viewed this item before I can now confirm that the engine is running but has some minor issues (see bad points below) GENERAL.
Being sold as a project boat that requires some TLC to make everything fully functional. A sports cruiser with double skin GRP hull of very sound construction. The lower cabin has a kitchen areas with sink, 2 burner cooker and fridge. At the front of the boat is a seating area which has a table with a pole leg that can be used to create a double bunk. There is a small toilet area opposite the kitchen and a coffin double bunk under the cockpit helm area.
There is storage under the front and side seats, behind the mirror on the front bulk head (which also doubles as the anchor locker) and under the steps leading from the cockpit to the cabin. In the cockpit area there are storage areas at both side of the boat, under the cockpit seats and under the rear seats. In the engine compartment there is also additional storage space on one side under the deck. All mooring lines, fenders and the mains boat to shore cable are included in the sale. Also included in the sale is a 4 stroke 3HP outboard worth about £300 as emergency backup.
Good points The engine runs. It has good oil pressure and compression on all cylinders. The interior of the cabin and the cockpit area were updated last year. The engine was overhauled 3 years ago and was given an oil, filter and plug service last year. Antifouling was refreshed last year as can be seen in the first photo were the boat was out of the water for this purpose.
Updates the the cabin include:-New curtainsNew replacement chemical toilet New carpetMains 230V fridge2 burner calor gas cookerMains electrically heater mixer tapReplacement water pump14 inch wall mounted TV with built in DVD player Updates to the cockpit include :-All seats replaced (the old ones were rotten where the canopy had been left off)Non slip decking applied to cockpit floorCanopy repairedside panels to cockpit replaced (old ones again rotten)Gas bottle enclosure fitted including new pipes, regulator and a full bottle of gas. Both leisure batteries replaced. Boat horn replacedNavigation lights repaired and working. Also included in the sale is a solar charging system for the leisure batteries. Outboard motor as emergency drive. Bad points The engine is running but has a blow from the exhaust manifold somewhere.
*****This was not identified on the last listing as the engine had not been started.*****if you know anything about these engines you will be aware that the fourth exhaust port has a tendency to corrode and it is this that is suspected. Replacement exhaust manifolds are available on classifieds board for around £300. There is a leak from the water pump at the front of the engine. *****Again this was not identified on the last listing as the engine had not been started.*****These sell for around £100 on classifieds board The canopy has not fair well in the high winds and needs a zip re stitching and the rear window replacing as it has split. The drive leg for trimming the boat does not lift on the rams.
I suspect either the pump has failed or the solenoid needs replacing. There is no noise from the pump when the trim button is pressed but the volt meter on the dashboard registers a demand for electricity. This has not bothered me as where the boat is located there is a 6 MPH speed limit on the medway. The outboard will need a transom bracket making and fitting. SUMMARY Revised listing with engine status revised now it is running and updated faults listed. A good example of a Carver Montego that requires cleaning, polishing and the repairs listed above.
In fully functional condition with the engine repairs completed. Boats of this type sell from upwards of £10,000 Because of the faults listed the reserve price has been reduced to reflect the repairs needed.
