Condition Description:
Beautiful classic wooden speedboat
Description:
A stunningly beautiful 1950's wooden speed boat in good condition with original inboard engine. Chris Craft were one of the original wooden speedboat manufacturers, later copied by Riva in Europe. The key thing is the hull condition on wooden boats and on this one hull and all planking was fully renovated in 2018 by a wooden boat specialist as can be seen from the pictures. She has been in dry storage and on the water twice since then (and one of those was a sea trial following the restoration). All original, including the Chris Craft engine, interior and chrome work. The boat comes with an original canvas cover. The interior was deliberately left as original rather than making it look brand new.Currently in dry storage near Salcombe, Devon.I am selling due to lack of time to use. This is the description from the boat survey I carried out after the renovations:"The vessel has a timber hull of mahogany laid in wide planks in a close seamed carvel fashion with a single hard chine. The stem and quarters are fitted with stainless steel protectors which are in good order. The hull is finished in spray applied high build two-part clear varnish, with the new finish to a professional standard. The underside of the hull is clean and has been newly coated with an epoxy primer system and a white top coat with a narrow red boot line. The hull is in very good condition for a vessel of this age, having very recently benefited from a careful refurbishment and recoating. Fitted with a three-bladed propeller, which was replaced in 2019. The flush cockpit comprises two seating areas with red vinyl upholstered seats. There is glass windscreen fitted in a stainless-steel frame. All in very good condition considering the age of craft. Deck Fittings: One forward mooring/lifting eye with fairleads;• One filler cap;• One aft mooring/lifting eye;• Varnished timber masthead/flagstaff;• Four stainless steel engine compartment deck vents;• Swivel search light (working). The deck fittings are in good order. The electrical system is 6V, charged by the engine alternator. The battery is new.The wiring on board has no major corrosion noted at any of the terminal ends. The vessel is fitted with a Chris Craft Model B 4-cylinder petrol engine. Engine number 27228.The exhaust pipe has recently been renewed. The engine key type ignition and dials are fitted at the helm position, with a rev counter, oil pressure gauge and temperature gauge all fitted (original dials). The engine has been professionally checked through and serviced by a qualified engineer. Bilge Pumps There is a single 6V bilge pump mounted beneath the helm seat. This is fitted with an integral automatic float switch, with a manual override switch at the helm position. The pump has recently been overhauled. Navigation Lights • Bow bi-light (working).• All round white light on flagstaff head (working)."This is a wonderful boat, of which there are very few in the UK. She would be suited to inshore cruising about or large river/lakes. This boat will give you the style of a classic Riva at a fraction of the cost.
