Four Winns 238 Vista 1997 Project - Not Rinker, Sealine, Maxum Or Sunseeker

Up for sale is my Four Winns 238 on a DE-GRAAF four wheeled trailer that I bought as a project, with the intention of bringing back to top condition. I was originally going to put a small outboard on the back and plonk it on the canals or the Lake District etc, and use it as a weekend getaway. As it stands I have too many other hobbies that get in the way and the wife has just bought a motorhome so the boat has to go as both won't fit on the driveway! Brief history of the boat goes as follows: It was owned from import by an elderly couple in Portsmouth. When the lady became ill the boat took a back seat and was left in the water at Port Solent for a few years, building up mooring fees.

When the yard started to ask for payment the old chap agreed to sell in order to recover the outstanding fees. I bought it a few months later. The boat was very highly spec'd when commissioned, having been fitted with the very desirable Volvo Penta 5.7 V8 GI (fuel injection). This engine was the top option at the time. The hour meter reads 273.5 hrs.

When I bought the boat the engine started instantly and sounded beautiful giving me no reason to doubt the hours. The oil is still golden. The outdrive is Volvo single prop with stainless propeller. I have been told that the Volvo outdrive is almost bullet proof and the one to have. The outdrive is not fitted to the boat but everything is there to reinstate it.

I know nothing about boats, otherwise I would have had a go at refitting it myself. As I said, the boat is a project, a very easy one at that. I have put new covers on the upholstery (I have the originals) and fitted new flooring. It has four new fenders and mooring lines. To finish the boat it needs little things like - the outdrive refitted, the seats need bolting together, the engine bay needs a good jet wash, a bit of anti foul etc... The fridge apparently works well, the original stove had been replaced and some rubbish second hand unit bodged in instead.

I removed this and tidied up the work top. The boat will sleep four comfortably. Remember this boat is on a four wheel, braked, DE-GRAAF trailer. DE-GRAAF is a very well regarded trailer manufacturer. The trailer alone is worth at least £2k.

The trailer is fitted with hub savers and tows nicely. To sum up, a couple of weekends work if you know what you are doing, and you would have a very nice gin palace or fishing boat. All in all an easy project for a practical person. Please don't expect a £20k boat for £10K!! Swaps or silly offers will be ignored - I'm not interested.
