Four Winns 238 Vista

Very nice example of the popular Four Winns 238 Vista, 4 berth compact cruiser, complete with double axle road trailer. Born in 1998, it has been well cared for, and the cream leather cockpit upholstery is in excellent condition, as is the external GRP, with only the usual minor scuffs and scratches expected for its age. The hood in in good condition and fully functional, there is a separate tonneau cover for transport etc. The double axle braked road trailer is also in good condition, however may benefit from a service. The boat engine was fully serviced in September 2016, with new plus and filters etc.

It has low hours (c.350), and starts and runs as new, still taking the boat up to 38 mph. There is an occasional drip of oil from the sump plug that has occurred since the oil change in September. This does not cause any operational issue, and could be sorted during its next service. The only other issue I'm aware of is one of the two batteries would benefit from a replacement. Internally the galley had previously been modified to add a double ceramic hob.

It also has a microwave, fridge, and washbasin. The heads has a sea toilet, hot & cold shower, and a choice of holding tank or sea discharge. Last winter I had the dinette seating professionally upholstered, and replaced the front section of the cabin headlining due to occasional leakage over the years from the escape hatch and the opening portholes. I have replaced the escape hatch with a new one (£500), and re-sealed the portholes. The remainder of the interior is original and in pretty good/serviceable condition for its age.

The four berths consist of the convertible V-Dinette at the front, and a small double bed under the cockpit floor. The leather seats in the cockpit have in-fill cushion to turn them into a large sun-pad. There is a remote-control, Sony sound system with speakers in the cockpit and cabin. There is a status TV aerial and amplifier, although this is currently not fitted as I don't use it. There is a Garmin GPS, and also a new colour fishfinder awaiting installation.

All in all, this 238 Vista presents a nice package for either a first time boater, or anyone wanting to keep one on a trailer, but needs 4 berths. It has a duo-prop counter-rotating drive, that gets the boat instantly on the plane, at speeds of up to 40 mph, well capable of towing skiers etc. It is also equally at home at 5 mph on the river, where it uses little fuel.
