Glastron 16 Foot

Glastron speed boat approx 16 feet long. I'm unsure of the model or year. The boat used to belong to a friend who unfortunately recently lost his battle with cancer. I am donating 100% of whatever this auction raises to Cancer Research UK. Just to be clear from the outset, this boat will require some work before it can be used.

The engine does not start but it does turn over. It is a Volvo B20 four cylinder, single carburettor. It will fire up briefly on Easy Start but not on petrol. I'm not a mechanic but this indicates to me that it has a fuel pump or carburettor problem. There is no ignition lock but I have put a pair of switches where it should be as a temporary measure.

One of these turns on the ignition and the other is non latching and fires the starter motor. The switches are not mounted in any way, they are just hanging off the wires coming out of the hole where the key should be. The floor of the boat is quite spongy. It looks like it has had a wooden floor fitted at some stage of its life and that wood has now rotted away under the floor covering. As a plus, the seat coverings are in fairly good condition.

The hull appears to be in reasonable condition. The trailer definitely needs work. The frame appears solid but I think it will need a replacement axle. It is OK for moving the boat at walking pace but I would not trust it any faster than that. The tyres are very badly perished and frankly it is amazing that they are holding air but they are.

The trailer does not have any brakes fitted and the tow hitch is simply a hole drilled through a flat piece of metal. I think the best way to make the trailer usable will be to fit an old caravan axle and tow hitch. The trailer does not have any lights. You will need to bring a flat bed trailer to take the boat away. I can help get the boat onto your trailer.

The boat will have to be collected within 7 days of the end of the auction. The auction is on a 99p start and there is no reserve.
