Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom
Here for auction is my Signet 20. Loa:20ft Beam:6.7ft Draft:2.3ft Built by in the UK Hurley Marine in the early 1960's she's a solid little bilge keeler. I took her on as a second boat early this year in the hope that I would have time to utilise her for some creek crawling day sails/overnighters. However, as I should have known, that time is obviously not going to transpire! So I have decided to sell her now whilst there is plenty of the season remaining for someone else to enjoy her.
She was antifouled in March before going in and is moored in the beautiful location of Saltash on the river Tamar. The mooring is infact also right on the corner of the Lhyner. Swinging mooring is paid up until August 4th, and can be taken over at the cost of just under £75pcm. (Provided you become a member of Saltash sailing club which costs £110 annually.) I am a member of the club myself and also keep my big boat on a mooring there. Savanna has a mainsail in good condition and ditto for her two hank on foresails.
She has a well for a longshaft outboard engine and also a bracket for a shortshaft. The bracket is a bit worn however perfectly reliable. 3hp will push her even against the tide on the Tamar. (I am not including an outboard engine in the auction.) She has sheets, warps, fenders and is ready to sail. Very minimal electronics (which is one of the things I love about her, less to go wrong!) Two batteries, which power only nav lights, a VHF, and a 12v socket.
She is classed as a four berth however it'd be a squeeze for four adults! I'd say adults in the Vberth and kids in the quarter berths. I should mention that her mast rakes (leans) slightly to the aft. This is because a new bow stay fitted last year is slightly too long. It doesn't affect her sailing performance whatsoever.
With her tiny draft of 2'3" she can be sailed right upstream in the local rivers, and with bilge keels you don't need to be concerned about running out of water! Also being built in the 60's she's of very solid construction and great in the open water. Often sailed to the Scillies by her previous owner of twenty years. Viewing can be done at anytime if you want to have a look at her, contact me for details on her exact mooring location. Auction runs for ten days.
99p start, NO RESERVE. If you have less than 20 feedback message me before bidding or your bid WILL be removed. Immediate deposit of £100 required via bank transfer upon completion of auction. I will be aboard my other boat in Saltash for around two weeks from the day after this auction ends so handover can be arranged from Saturday 16th onwards. Happy bidding, and if you win, happy sailing!
Matt. For extra information text me initially on: phone (I don't answer calls to unknown numbers.) On 06-Jul-22 at 10:21:49 BST, seller added the following information: Additional: I CAN supply an old Yamaha 5hp longshaft outboard separately to the auction winner. I'd prefer not to because it's my auxiliary, however if needs be I'll sell it for £500. (Plenty of engines for sale here on classifieds board and elsewhere of course if you don't have one.)
