Boat Type: Cabin Cruiser
Here is my one of a kind boat… as unique as they come. She is the full package deal and completely ready to go. There’s not another like her as she has been EXTREMELY customised, upgraded and restored…. There is a further google photos folder with many more photos. Https://photos.app.goo.gl/QFbjJco5XtRkDmqt9 The sterndrive is currently having a transom shower installed hence not attached in the photos.
This is my '2001' Mariah Z308, the flagship of the top quality Mariah brand, although she is no longer a Mariah as such, and most definitely not dated, I can bet she is one of the most customised and versatile boats you'll find out there . The boat is petrol and a single drive, equipped with a 2022 Merc 6.4L engine and bravo 3 duo prop - this makes for some serious speed and maneuverability on the water. She will cruise happily at 30knots while still enabling you to turn her rapidly, and she now has a top speed of around 40. She is a fantastic boat to drive while offering all the luxuries and facilities one could need. She is a 6 berth boat, with a full double mattress at the stern of the cabin that can be removed for extra storage.
The bow of the cabin has a seating area that can also be converted to a double bed and the stern of the deck has a seating area with plenty of space, or a table can be placed in this area for useability, furthermore this table can be lowered to form a double bed which can be used for sun lounging or sleeping. There is an additional seating area in the centre of the deck, as well as the helm seat that has a sliding bar for comfort and a step on the cabin door up to the foredeck of the boat that is ideal for lounging on when the boat is on the water. I have refurbished her with the intent of creating the most versatile/easy/fun boat possible. I'll be selling her as a family package, ie with all the safety equipment and several towables/ringos and the accessories to go with them. - A high speed boat?
With her new engine, she'll top out at 40knots now without causing an issue. Being a single drive boat, her manoeuvrability is fantastic and she really is great fun to drive. - A luxury boat? She is fitted with everything you could possibly need, from the new TV and fridge to the sunbeds on the stern of the boat. Everything onboard can be used under her own power away from shore.
She is fitted with several new safety systems to keep those onboard worry free, especially when it comes to ensuring there is enough battery power left to keep you going. - A family boat? She'll happily entertain 8-10 people with comfort and the cabin stays lovely and cool. She has all the equipment to keep a family happy. As well as creating a pretty big wake, chucking 4 of you on the ringos on the back is great fun and she handles it with ease.
- A party boat? She's fitted with a seriously impressive sound system, and I personally very much enjoy boating in the evening. As well as the new light up Fusion sound system, she is covered in the very best LED lighting, as well as some gorgeous underwater lights. - A winter boat? As well as the evenings, I love boating on the chilly flat Winter mornings.
So she is fitted with a full Webasto diesel heating system which heats the cabin up very quickly, as well as the deck if the canopy is kept on. And with no speed limit in the Harbour in the Winter, and not many boats about, it is great fun putting her on the plane and ripping through there at 35knots. The new, square looking boats didn’t interest me: I wanted to find a well made, sleeker looking style. The kind which kids tend to draw on request of a boat. I fell in love with her at the end of 2020.
She was a great example of a 'properly' made boat and she definitely stood out with the funky wrap she sported at the time… and so I jumped into the boating world. Mariah was an American company and all their boats have petrol engines. Mariah boats themselves were renowned for their high build quality and luxury . They have a reputation for excellence, with an active and supportive forum membership. There were only 24 of the Z308 models made, making them a much coveted acquisition.
Furthermore, only 1 of these 24 were made with a single drive, and she holds this singulairty. From the original design of the Z308, the model combined the fun of a speedboat with the luxury of a fully equipped cruiser, especially now with her upgrades. She is equipped with a fresh water system, operating 3 taps, one on the deck, another in the cabin and the third in the bathroom. The bathroom is a full wet room and the tap pulls out following a metal hose, forming a shower. There is also a new transom shower on the swim deck.
These all run on both cold and hot water. After acquiring her, I realised she needed to be updated and brought into the modern times. Hence began my big program of works…. I had her pretty much fully stripped. With her beautiful shaped body and hull, I wanted her fitted with the best equipment and technologies, and of course her being made in the States meant that she needed to be electronically converted.
A year and half of refurbishment began…. This totalled just over £80,000 From that, she has £52,000 worth of new parts on her. I have put together 2 separate documents: one with all the new parts (exc labour), and the other with all works in general (inc labour). The second document has the date and description of each of the works carried out as well as a further link to the invoice for those works. Do copy and paste these links into your browser if you wish to view them. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iC9or7FUXdIWmouE1B9S__-biNfqFerRPDQ25ahLsZ0/edit?
Usp=sharing https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qaOj-Jk-4iuYMp4FdWaZ-sahCzIU6QoohzwGeCgJZJA/edit? Usp=sharing When I say everything was refitted/refurbished, I really do mean all. As follows are some of the major works. Keep in mind everything listed here onwards is new and was not used until September of last year onwards, once the boat was fully restored. A bow thruster - this made a huge difference on the manoeuvring in tight spaces and gave me piece of mind to be able to take her to unfamiliar waters.
A brand new 2022 Mercruiser 6.2L 383 Mag Stroker Reman engine fitted last July. It is still under warranty. Of course being a very modern engine, the running costs are really quite low. Transom shield Power steering system Complete Bennett trim tab kit Smaller props were fitted to match the new engine Permateek (flooring) was cut and fitted to the deck, including the borders A couple of weeks ago she undertook a full rewrap - I chose these colours/design to match the interior seats An electric windlass system was fitted to operate the anchor and chain, all controllable from the helm on a panel where the chain drop can be monitored. The delta type anchor and chain are also new.
All electronics changed from 110V US, to 240V UK. This included installing a compact inverter so all 'glamping' appliances can be used on the water away from shore power. This includes the new fridge, microwave, electric hob, UK sockets throughout the boat, TV and so on. Garmin navigation system, hull transducer and VHF VHF antenna, electric horn, deck shower (hot + cold) The loudest marine sound system available on the market for the deck - including a 12inch subwoofer. Seriously loud.
All controlled by the most premium control units available. These 5 speakers all include LEDs operated from a controller and create the perfect background lighting. The cabin sound system is also all new as well as deafening if needed. These 2 sound systems can be played separately, or linked together simply using the app, the audio control units, or even the Garmin Nav unit. Onboard 4g WiFi system - This also allows connection to the audio system using AirPlay All lighting on the boat was redesigned.
In the cabin most white lights are premium stainless steel white LEDs that are on a swivel and very bright, there are a couple very bright lights above the kitchen area and again in the toilet room, these are touch controlled. There are then 2 fully multicoloured LED strip systems, both hidden behind the black cabinets, 2 in the cabin and 1 in the bedroom. These are both individually operated through an app on your phone. There are then many white LEDs on the deck and swimming deck, as well as a couple on the Arch. Of course the Fusion sound system speakers are all multicoloured and make for great subtle lighting when moving on the water, controllable through a separate controller.
Moving onto the exterior of the boat, there are new P/S nav lights, a general white nav light and on the bow of the boat is the original spotlight (although I am including this as a new lamp was imported from the US for it), this is on an electrical swivel that is operated using a joystick on the helm, so quite fun to use at night. There are also 2 original docking lights, these are quite handy when bringing her back in at low light and make for quite a nice look. There are two limishore underwater lights on the stern of the boat, these are both blue and white and have several different modes, solid blue, solid white, slowly moving between the two and a flashing party sort of mode. They look quite amazing. In the cabin - 32inch Samsung TV (this is drilled into the bulkhead so it does not move), Samsung microwave, Dometic fridge, premium vimar sockets/surrounds, electric hob Double mattress - memory foam.
Shorepower wiring/cables/connections, a 12v plug was installed on the transom for powering the pumps used to inflate the ringos/towables USB ports on helm dash, several UK sockets on the deck, a wireless phone charger mount for the helm With power usage in mind for the above, she has had a couple of huge leisure batteries installed so that everything can be run from them. You would have to be using everything at full power for quite a while to run them dry. Even so, the boat has a duel power system, so the engine is started by a separate starter battery, and in the case that you have dropped anchor and run the leisure batteries dry, you can switch to the starter battery to run the leisure systems if needed. Thirdly, the batteries are all connected to a Victron smart system, so you can view all the battery data (present and historic) via an app on your phone Full water heating system, including a 30L calorifier, this all operates away from shore Plumbing and seacock - waste can pump to a tank or straight to sea An extensive heating kit, the swimming deck compartment was converted into an area to store a diesel heating system, specifically the Air Top 2000STC marine kit, so the Webasto heater and a diesel jerry can was built into the compartment. These feed hot air into both the cabin and the deck.
The original wooden floor panels, as well as the bathing ladder hatch/panel, were restored and metalwork made up so the bow thruster compartment is accessible All deck hatches, as well as the entire window screen, were removed and resealed to ensure everything was watertight 3 bilge pumps replaced, all switches on the helm replaced, sliding cabin door rails replaced The aluminium fuel tank was thoroughly inspected and cleaned out. A sterndrive transom shower is being fitted before sale The general 'out the water' works are being finished at the moment, including a full re-antifowl of the hull and sterndrive, anode replacement on the sterndrive and trim tabs, and a second full engine service. There is also a custom wooden frame being made for the storage compartment on deck, as I removed the old ice machine fom here, allowing for extra storage. Following on in terms of general storage, she has much of it. There is space under the seats on deck and several compartments when the seats are lifted up.
There is then a large storage compartment under the deck sink, followed by another under the helm seat. The cabin has many cabinets, a fair few around the kitchen area then a long storage areas above the cabin seats. There is also a storage area that runs all around the seating area, accessible by lifting the panels - these have new chrome knobs on. The cabin seats themselves also lift up opening up to more storage beneath them. The bedroom has storage cabinets at the end of the bed as well.
Just prior to when I brought the boat, the previous owner had made some improvements: these included; A brand new canopy - as seen in the photos. The canopy is made in several parts and so can be dismantled quite easily. Full deck interior seating/fabric refurbishment, the cabin has the original seating from Mariah A Kuuma charcoal barbecue - this mounts onto the stern rail. I have never used this and it has been in storage since. It also has the cover for it.
A couple of other nifty extras include the entire helm seat operating on an electric motor, thus allowing for extra comfort and great when the little ones want a drive. The bow of the cabin also has 2 fans that can be turned on for a breezy air flow in the summer days. As I mentioned at the start I will sell her as a family package, so things like the tool box, flare box, sea anchor, boat lines, first aid kit and about 6 Buoyancy aids and 4 life jackets, etc will all be sold with her.. all of which are new from last year. Alongside this are two 4 person towables including a banana boat, and a 1 person towable, as well as the bridle/ropes etc to go with them... these have only been used a few times as well. When not being used, these inflatables can be easily stowed, either tied onto the swim deck, or strapped onto the railings of the boat on the foredeck, using a paddle board storage kit that I fitted.
Most of the above accessories are from Jobe and are all new from last year. She is currently named 'Daytona', however I have not installed this name onto the new wrap instead leaving for her next owner to decide. There are a couple 'Daytona' stickers still present as you can see in the picture but these are easily removable. Personally, I think that a stainless steel light up name on the swim deck compartment would look quite nice. Why am I selling her?
…. I am young and would like to go travelling for a while. I feel as if the boat should go to a family who can get great enjoyment out of her and not be stuck in dry stack for a long period of time. Both the boat and canopy will be fully valeted before she is handed over. The boat is currently out the water at Cobbs Quay Marina in Poole - I thought it was better to leave her out the water so she can be easily surveyed if required. Once someone is serious about her then she can be lifted into the water and sea trialled at the expense of the potential buyer.
She currently has a berth at Cobbs Quay. This can be kept or she can be moved to another marina.
