Smee of Rock is a 27 foot Jaguar yacht based just outside Nidri in Vliho, Greece. For sale is 1/5 share which entitles you to 5 weeks sailing each year although there are usually more available. It is run by a friendly syndicate who arrange the rota by E-mail and phone calls. The yacht is looked after in Greece so you don't have to worry about anything. You simply e-mail or phone our agent who will arrange a taxi to collect you from the airport to the quay where Smee will be waiting for you ready to go.
Nearest airport is Preveza which is well served by EasyJet, Thomas Cook and others. The taxi from the airport to the quay is 50 Euros. Each syndicate member pays £60 per month which pays for the upkeep of the yacht and gardiennage service by Vliho Yacht Club. This includes maintenance, hauling out and storing inland and relaunching the next year. This also includes preparing for the next season with fresh antifouling and engine service and annual insurance. Over the last 3 years the engine has been reconditioned and both sails have been replaced so there will be no nasty unexpected bills.
The engine is a diesel Volvo Penta coupled to a sail drive, it starts first time every time and sips diesel so is very economical. A two week holiday last Summer cost me only 10 euro in fuel. The tender was also replaced about 18 months ago and has a 3.5HP Yamaha outboard. There is also a small light seagull outboard which is kept in storage at VYC.Smee sails very well and has everything you need. There is a twin bunk in the front cabin with new cushions, the saloon table drops to covert into a double and then there are two single quarter berths in the stern.
Although it would be possible sleep 6, you would have to be VERY friendly. My family of five were able to cope but I think Smee is ideally suited to 2, 3 or maybe 4 people.Ideally the buyer will hold a Day Skipper Qualification (or equivalent) and some previous sailing experience in order to obtain the ICC (International Certificate of Competence) and be allowed to sail in Greek waters. If not then they must be willing to obtain one before first using the boat.We have a video of Smee taken from 2015 as she approaches Fiskardo, one of the many pretty Greek villages in the Ionian waters, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch? V=sz59Io1ijiACurrently there just four weeks this year have been booked by a syndicate member: two weeks from 3rd June to 17th June and 16th September to 30th September. All other dates from May are still available.Subscriptions are paid for February.
The buyer will need to pay the 60 euro per month from March. Please contact me with any questions prior to buying.
