## Selling as Spares or Repairs - See detail below ## Stunning Classic 16' Sorcerer Scorpio Ski Boat with powerful 140 HP Outboard. I am the 3rd Owner and have owned her 23 years. Prior to me, she was purchased by a member of a Ski Club in Chichester who had her two seasons. Her first owners were the Ski Club, who operated her locally and only ever on fresh water. If you google 'Scorpio Powerboats' you will find out how capable these hulls are, many have been raced and some have entered in the round the UK powerboat race.

They are extremely well build solid boats with fabulous sea keeping qualities and have a lovely hull profile. You will see on line that some have been raced with only modest outboards, even 40HP outboards have achieved up to 30 knots. This boat is very very very quick indeed. With 140 HP, the maximum permitted, she will outperform most and has achieved 50 knots. If you are a keen sports boat person, you will know that 16' boat with 140HP will be extremely quick.

The boat and engine were completely overhauled when I purchased her with routine maintenance happening since. I have shown just a few pictures of her restoration (the trim tilt unit and leg), but I have a number of these pictures I will send others you if you are a genuine buyer. She has a folding 'walk through' screen, giving easy access to the fore deck. During the refit, the boat had new seat foams, wooden bases and upholstery. New carpets were fitted, gauge cluster and switch-gear added, rewired, bilge pump, air-horn, all hardwood trims and cleat pads, radio antenna, new compass, the gel coat was cut and polished, fuel lines replaced, internal fuel tank flushed, new stainless fittings - the list goes on.

Sufficed to say, she was completely refurbished back then. During the refit, the engine was completely stripped back to the power-head. She had new seals in the trim tilt unit, new starter motor, new water pump impeller, gearbox seals, every panel, the engine leg, the engine skirt, mount etc was powder coated or sprayed professionally. She has all new ignition coils, plugs and silicone HT leads. I had the gearbox stripped back and polished originally, but this was a pain to keep it shiny!

The two wheel trailer is of the 'brake-back' type (for launching on steep inclined slips). The trailer was repainted but this needs stripping back and doing again. She has had new wheel bearings and hubs 6 years ago, wheels and tyres on both sides 6 years ago, with only one use back then. I have just fitted a new jockey wheel and have removed the wheels and checked the hubs to ensure well greased and she rolls okay. The boat has a 22 gallon internal fuel tank, filled from the fore deck.

Instruments include Volt gauge, Amp gauge, Clock, Speed and Rev Counter, Trim and Tilt gauge, Fuel gauge and Engine Temperature gauge. She has separate trim tilt switches. There is a switch panel for Navigation Lights, Horn, Bilge Pump, Radio Power (VHF Removed but bracket and antenna remain) and Spot Light. The battery compartment is under the walk through Screen. In the rear of the boat, just in front of the transom, there is a boarding hook stowed away, and emergency pull start cord.

The air horn compressor is located here. There are internal stowage areas along the length of both internal sides of the boat, a 'glove box' and decent stowage under the rear seat. There is a foldaway anchor and chain included. The upholstery remains very good indeed, with no visible tears or rips, the two bucket seats, which are needed, are adjustable back and forward. The front passenger seat can be reversed for ski support.

To the rear there is a fitted ski pole, with a float rope and handle (included) to the engine well. All the stainless fittings are good, but the hardwood pads they sit on need re staining and varnishing. There is a boarding ladder included, which has excellent teak steps and fair plastic coated aluminum rails. There are also two fold up and away foot steps on the rear transom. There is also an auxiliary engine removable mount that is included.

The antenna has a broken base but this is common and an easy fix. It clips above the ski-rope for storage. Selling as Spares or Repair - This boat has been laid up for 6 years and will need recommissioning. I have not run the engine, however, there is no reason why the engine will not run; she was laid up fully operational and running. The battery is flat and will need replacing.

The fuel system will need to be flushed through. As with this length of time, the impeller will need to be replaced, as will the spark plugs. The carbs will need to be checked and flushed / cleaned. The boat gels coat is in good condition. I can not find any osmosis but there are some chips to the gel coat in places, in keeping with a boat of her age.

If you T cut and polish a section, you will see the brilliant shine that she still has. The carpets would benefit from replacing or a proper wash (there are no threadbare areas or rips but show the signs of general wear). The hardwood strip and pads all need sanding back and re varnishing. There is some rot to the soft wood rear seat frame that needs cutting out and replacing (see picture of this - its the top part of the rear seat base frame). The powder coating has come away from the base of the ski-pole (where it fixes to the deck) whilst still sound, this has rusted and will need replacing with a marine gauge stainless steel one).

The upholstery is stapled to the underside of the seat pads. I didn't use stainless staples, but did paint every staple - this hasn't saved them and many have rusted. The pads themselves (just cut sections of marine ply) would benefit from being replaced. The starboard navigation light lens has broken, I have replaced with a clear lens to keep the fitting dry, but this must be replaced with a green lens. The plastic screw base of the antenna has broken, and the large and now obsolete VHF removed.

I later used a handheld VHF meaning this was made redundant. There is paint chips on parts of the leg and bracket, shown in the pictures. One of the hardwood strips on the fore-deck has detached at one end (they were blind screwed from underneath) and so a screw will need replacing. The teleflex steering rod has seized tight where it comes out from the outer cable and into the engine steering arm. Strangely for such a fabulous engine (used by military in its time) there were parts made of steel on the outboard, like the tilt up lock and the steering linkage!

The teleflex cables will need replacing and is a consumable part really. I have detached the linkage so the engine can be moved freely, as can the steering wheel. One wheel stud needs replacing as this was corroded. I have put in a steel replacement, but this can only be temporary. So in brief, here we have a previous restoration of a stunning future classic ski boat, super quick and powerful.

Lots of fun, capable and extremely well built. She had a pampered life and full expensive previous restoration. She needs recommissioning, this is not a weekend fiddling and off you go, I have listed the jobs that I know will need doing. I would welcome and promote any inspection at my home in Fareham, where I can take you through her and answer your questions. I will include a full Envinrude workshop manual, service manual and other booklets.

There are a few spares going with the boat. I will include a full light trailer board (old 9 pin style connector) but this hasn't been tested. Lastly the buyer will need to bring either some ropes or preferable ratchet straps to tie the boat down for towing. I have a set of skis (mono and twin use) which I will take a separate offer on - there are unmarked and only used once. I also have a two seat Aqua Sausage which i will take offers on.

This is a RELUCTANT sell, I am moving abroad in the next few months, my house is now sold and I cant take her with me. This is the wrong time to sell a boat I know, I dont want to sell her, and I reserve the right to be selective of who she goes to. This is not something I want to know has been bodged up for a quick thrill. Please i hope that she goes to an enthusiast. Having said that, there is LOW START and NO RESERVE.
