16ft Fishing / Leisure Boat

TATE LANCER 16ft FISHING / LEISURE BOAT. 16’ length, 6’6” beam. The hull is a shallow V-shape at the front (same as a rib) which flattens out to a cathedral hull shape at the rear (think rib with no tubes but solid fiberglass sides......and a cabin!). This gives a very smooth & fast ride, the boat cutting through choppy seas unlike the slamming experienced with full cathedral hull types. The cathedral shape at the rear gives excellent stability at rest making it a very stable fishing platform.

2002 Yamaha 90HP 3cyl 2-stroke (auto-mix), power tilt & trim, electric start, 703 remote controls & gauge. (2 keys). Flushed with fresh water after every use – WITHOUT FAIL! A new impeller, spark plugs and fuel filter change was carried out during last season including a gearbox oil change. This boat & engine can achieve exhilarating speeds up to approx 34kts, dependent on load & sea conditions of course.

Make no mistake this is a fast boat, equaling RIB speeds & easily towing a skier or towable toys if required. Once up on the plane the boat can stay there/maintain planning at under half throttle! Powerful yet economical if & when required. The boat has a cuddy / cabin that is large enough for 3 adults (4 at a squeeze) to sit in & hide from inclement weather; there are cabin seat cushions & loads of under seat storage. There’s a fitted rear bench seat with cushions, (the seat top is removable to access fuel tank/s, battery & any other under seat storage items – The bench seat seats 3 adults comfortably, 4 at a push.

It has small Perspex windscreen on the cabin for wind deflection & to stop the occasional large wave! It has a stainless bow rail, a bow roller, side rails on the cabin top & side rails on the gunnels. 3 rod holders (2 fitted/sunk into rear of gunnels & 1 removable – clamps onto side rails). Non slip foot pads around each side of the cabin to safely walk around to the bow if needed. X1 Pedestal fold down swivel seat at the helm.

Tonneau / transport cover - very stiff with age now & rather difficult to fit so could do with replacing…........ if you need one). The trailer is a De Graaff SB750/2 ADJ, 750Kg, unbraked, single axle, swing beam multi roller trailer. Launching & recovery is an amazingly easy operation even for one person, I launch & recover from a shallow shelving beach with ease. I’ve just replaced and re-greased the wheel bearings 07/03/17 (150 mile M4 journey home since then), it also has bearing savers fitted. The trailer winch is single speed.

Good condition tyres on the trailer with loads of tread. I’m not entirely sure of the boats age however; I suspect it to be very late 80’s early 90’s? Fortunately, I managed to speak to the MD of the company who manufactured these boats (just before he emigrated to Spain!) and so have some limited history/background info about these boats. In my view the general condition of the boat is amazingly good considering its age & when compared with many boats I’ve seen!..……..it has had a lot of TLC though! Of course it does have a few scratches, bumps and grinds commensurate with use/age, It has its original gel coat which looks & remains in good condition however, understandably it now lacks it’s ‘new boat’ high lustre and shine.

I deep polish it at the start of every season - it comes up brilliantly and makes a huge difference. This is and has been an excellent fast, fishing & leisure boat and has given hours of fishing, family fun and memories over the years and still has plenty of life in it to continue doing so! Only for sale because I have bought another slightly larger boat!
