17ft V8 dory jet boat for sale. Here for sale and offered with no reserve is my father's V8 jet boat. This is a project that will require work and is offered as pictured. I do not know a great deal about it, except that my father bought it as a retirement project having always wanted a Hamilton jet driven boat. Regrettably he is no longer in a position to be able to devote the time or energy to recommissioning the craft and he has asked me to offer it for sale on his behalf. The boat is offered as pictured - it still has the Hamilton 771 jet drive fitted, which is coupled to a 3.5 litre Rover V8 engine, some controls, wiring, fittings etc.
And is complete with anchor and sitting on the trailer shown. The hull is believed to be a 17' sea going Dell Quay Dory type in robust fibreglass. It features foam filled sandwich construction, moulded in a cathedral hull shape offering a nice stable profile and good water handling characteristics, together with a high degree of safety. It's a very tough, shallow draft craft with great stability and should be very easy to get up on the plane. It is fitted with a centre straddle bench seat with steering and controls at the bow end, with a further bench seat to the rear and features a detachable cockpit canopy.
In the stern is the engine and jet drive housing covered by a flat deck area, also containing the stainless steel fuel tank, battery and running gear. The bow features a small stowage compartment with lid, accessed from the fore deck.Length:- 17ftBeam:- 6ftDrive- Inboard Hamilton jet drive, type 771Engine:- Inboard high compression Rover V8, 3.5L petrol on twin SU carburettors. Condition:- The boat is a project and the condition is as pictured. The hull looks decent from a brief visual inspection with no obvious major damage - there are some marks evident to the exterior as to be expected for a used boat and it will probably need work in some areas, but it looks to be a good base. The engine looks largely complete (less manifolds) but the condition is unclear - I was unable to turn the engine over by hand, so assume it is likely seized from sitting although the oil on the dipstick looks decent and the level correct.
Visual inspection through the oil filler showed no obvious concerns. The Hamilton jet drive also looks decent, with the steering operating as expected. It needs work, but looks like it is pretty much all there and a decent base on which to start - please view the pictures for an accurate guide to condition. In summary, a Hamilton jet driven pleasure boat offered here for sale to the highest bidder without reserve and FOR COLLECTION ONLY, cash on collection please. It is not advertised elsewhere and the listing will not be ended early – it's here to sell for whatever it makes and viewings are welcome and encouraged.
I appreciate it isn't easy buying something like a jet boat over the internet, so by way of further assurance if the winning bidder arrives to collect this boat and discovers it is not as described here or isn't to their satisfaction I will happily release them from their contractual obligations, no questions asked - I work hard to list items honestly and completely and to provide a first class classifieds board service that gives buyers a positive experience, please read the entire listing and check my feedback so you can bid with confidence. Good luck and happy bidding!
