18ft Viking Boat (Faering)

Reason for sale - Moving up to an ocean going vessel Beautiful one-off custom built of a double ended viking style Norwegian Faering. Performance built from sustainable marine plywood, epoxied, varnished and very durable. Based off an Iain Oughtred design and customised to include the sweeping beauty of the Gokstad faering. High viking style steams inscribed with protective runes complete the design. The craft comes with 2 rowing stations and a traditionally rigged sail plan (spirtsail with jib) and a 2 dagger boards.

The boat is fresh from its annual maintenance with its renowned builder Tiernan Roe of Roe Boats (supplier of boats to Game of Thrones and Vikings).A sprit vang added for extra sail control and performance. Precise dimensions are 17ft 8 on the LOA and 4.5ft on the beam. Brand new trailer included that has never seen water. Trailer can be dipped in water during launch with no issues. Spare trailer lights, small anchor and boat cover included.

Boat can be sailed in virtually no wind as is only 80-100kg hull weight and rows with no effort. I achieved a limited solo rower sprint speed of 4.9 knots with the mast up and rudder attached. Comfortably takes 4 on a flat lake and has been sailed limited in coastal waters in and around Sligo Bay off the West Coast of Ireland. Must be seen to be appreciated. Boat now residing in North Wales.
