Minstrel 680 - 22ft "Rosie" This is an rare but clever design featuring a centre cockpit and an aft cabin, meaning she is ideal for two couples or a small family. The wheel steering makes her easy to handle. I have had many happy adventures in and around the Solent over the last ten years. Offered sadly, but I moved away just before lockdown and there is no reasonable prospect of being able to give her the love she deserves in the near future. A racing boat she is not, but a good reliable cruiser in most conditions you would want to go out in.
I know she will make someone an excellent weekender with a bit of TLC. She was in sailing condition prior to 2020, when she was "winterised" and packed up and little work has been done since. The design is also unusual in featuring a swing keel (with winch) and lifting rudder blade, and skegs, meaning she can dry out without a problem. It also means she can be trailered relatively easily (although I do not have a trailer). The keel is chunky and down it allows good stable sailing.
Inboard Yanmar 1GM10 diesel, which is a reconditioned one fitted a couple of years ago and done very few hours since. Running happily when last used. - Built circa 1980 by Simpson Ritchie Yachts - very solid fibreglass hull! - Full suite of mainsail, jib and storm sail - Convertible dining area/bed in the front cabin - Separate compartment with sea toilet - Spacious under-cockpit lockers and side lockers - Rear cabin with two bunks, electric panel and access to the engine - Fixed CD/radio player, VHF, colour change LED lighting throughout - Speed/depth log and compass, navigation lights - Rear swim ladder - Manual bilge pumps for the various compartments - New 2 ring gas burner + grill fitted a few years ago - Fresh water tank and hand pump sink - Repainted a few years ago, although this has suffered a bit - Includes anchor, fenders, life ring, radar reflector, spare ropes and various boat paraphernalia What she needs to be sailing again- Engine service; new oil etc- Diesel fuel drained + replaced (probably) - New batteries - I removed these for storage but they have since died - Jetwash, anti-foul and new anodes - Re-rigging of the boom and major ropes (removed for protection) - VHF antenna/mast-top light was knocked off a while ago - not strictly necessary She is lying afloat on a harbour mooring on the River Hamble which is not transferable. There is NO TRAILER!
As a result she would need to be moved promptly after sale. There are sometimes private moorings available elsewhere on the river. There are also a number of boatyards nearby who would provide towage and haulout for a reasonable charge and I would recommend this to any purchaser. I have done my best to provide clear photographs and I am happy to answer specific questions. I also have more detailed photos available for interested parties to allow you to fully assess the condition of the vessel, please do feel free to ask.
I live several hours away from the boat. I am in the area from time to time, but I cannot be very flexible with accompanied viewings. I have priced accordingly. The photos were taken in early August when I was last onboard, so she will have collected a little weed since then.
