24ft Bilge Keel Yacht Project

Up for sale is my Sterling Matador, she's a 24ft bilge keeler yacht. The overall condition of the boat is cosmetically poor and could do with some attention in places. It is mechanically sound with a good engine and reasonable sails and rigging. The standing rigging was replaced in 2009 with stainless steel. Also replaced was the tabernacle with a stainless steel unit.

The engine is a Yanmar 2gm20 with unknown hours. It was been serviced regularly and will have a fresh service upon the sale of the boat. There is a full running galley with a 2 hob burner complete with grill, a sink and tap plumbed to 2x 25l water containers. A working heads is situated on the port side just forward of the saloon. The boat is a 3 berth with a V berth forward and a pilot berth on the starboard side.

The sails that come with the boat are in reasonable condition and will see a good few seasons use yet. They would benefit from a valet but otherwise sound. There is only 2 sails with the boat, 1x genoa and 1x mainsail.The running rigging is currently off the boat and is dry stored. The hull of the boat is osmosis free but does have a few layers of anti foul building up now. It was last out of the water 18 months ago where 2x coats of anti foul was applied.

The red paint is now fading and looks quite poor as it has been poorly patched in places. The cockpit locker lids are ply which has started delamination and require replacing. The main sliding hatch has unfortunately split and will require either repair or replacement. The last issue is the windows which will require replacing and resealing as the port one has cracked and they both are showing signs of their age. Overall the boat is an excellent base for a restoration project.
