Featured Refinements: Canal Cruiser
Creighton 32 Inlander (1976) Semi-project 32ft GRP cruiser with a centre cockpit. BSC until 2023. Condition good for age but some jobs need doing. Hull is sound (they made them good back then!) but could do with antifouling. Exterior requires cosmetic work.
6'10 beam. Air draft is 7ft with canopy up - with canopies down the chimney is the highest point at 6'4. Have done some very low parts of the network with her with the chimney flue dropped down (currently fixed in place but could be rejigged to have a removable chimney) so without the chimney, air draft is pretty low. Warning - headroom is low in both cabins so probably not suitable for tall people. Issues:1) there is a small seeping drip from the stern tube (not a problem, bilge pump is sound, but could do with coming out of the water to fix) 2) The wooden windscreen needs repairing, and the front canopy cover almost definitely needs completely replacing; possibly could be refurbed (have seen some companies do amazing refurb jobs on knackered covers) 3) The whale gulper shower exit pump needs replacing.
Simple job of taking out and putting a new one in. Cost would be approx £100. Currently the shower drain is unscrewed to allow water to drain into the bilge instead but this isn't ideal long term as the bilge pump could get clogged. 4) The gas hot water boiler (Atwood Jolly Boiler) lacks an intake flu - this just means you need to open up the cupboard it's in so it gets enough air when being used, and when it's windy it can cut out a lot. It's not unsafe, just annoying.
Could probably simply replace flue - was just bendy aluminium pipe (I tried to do it but I got the sizing off by a few mm and then gave up with how awkward it is trying to work around the boiler). It is very old though so may be better off being replaced entirely. Info about boat: Perkins 3 cylinder engine in good working condition. Water cooled. Starts every time, has had replacement solenoid for starter motor last year.
Long stern shaft goes from the centre cockpit to the rear where there is a traditional stern gear and greaser. 2 110ah leisure batteries, 1 starter battery, 500w inverter, shoreline socket. Approx 250w of solar panels (1 approx 50w at front, 2 x 100w at back). Comes with 4 ropes (1 stern, 1 bow, 2 centre), 3 pins, a hammer and a lock windlass. Starting from front cabin -Not-quite-double bed with plenty of space for storage underneath, mattress is less than a year old (Ikea memory foam), built in shelf above, new multifuel stove (only replaced in Nov), single light, 2 240v sockets for inverter, 2 12v sockets, 2 240v for shoreline power.
Steps lead up to cockpit. Cockpit - there are a few drips but cockpit is mostly dry despite shabby cover. All floor boards lift up to give access to engine. There are steps either side for storage. Two 50l water tanks are situated under the cockpit either side of the engine.
10l gas hot water boiler is situated under drivers seat. Back cabin includes gas hob and grill combo (again pretty old - functional but shabby), 12v fridge (working status unknown as I don’t use it myself), table and two seats with storage underneath, some cupboards. Thetford casette toilet (just the 1 cassette available but extras can be purchased as part of a 'refresh kit' from thetford), mixer shower. Rear deck has cover I made myself (serviceable) and gas locker with room for 13kg gas bottle. Two bench seats either side (need new cushions).
Makes a useful storage area currently, but could be made into a nice seating area. Can do viewings pretty much any day if required (text phone to arrange). Currently in Milton Keynes.
