I purchased Deneb K with a long term view of someday setting sail and wanted a go-anywhere boat, that was manageable for a modest crew and easy to maintain anywhere I found myself. Bought ashore with few working systems, I set about comprehensively preparing her to sustain me as a home, and the sailing boat I desired. I treated her as a blank canvas, and an opportunity to realise what I wanted from a boat. Every new part, from the tanks to the electrics, the sail plan to the engine I enjoyed working through to details to arrive at the right solution for each. I have a depth of experience in boat building, composites and engineering generally, so was able to turn my hand to each area as a challenge, often designing and fabricating unique parts as the best solution for a boat first launches in the 1930s.
She boasts modern flourishes where they are a boon, such as the carbon spars and period-correct features where it was very much spot on the first time - but each of the period parts have been checked over and refurbished as required. You could set sail in her tomorrow, and have some enjoyment - what I feel she needs is a new owner keen to take her to the next level of her journey. If you have the time to sand, paint and fettle Deneb K is the perfect boat to give you much joy, reward and satisfaction in owning and sailing something special, unique and very much you own. She will be missed, and I would love to see how she progresses in the coming seasons, and if you need any advice or have questions down the line I'll be happy to help within the limits of my current hectic schedule, and pass on any designs and ideas to take her further if you wish! Thank you for reading and I look forward to welcoming you aboard for a viewing!
