4 Cabin Catamaran Sailcraft Iroquois mk1VAT paid 1966 - 9.14m length 3.96m beam 1,814Kg displacement I have been sailing this catamaran with my family (of 5) in the West cost of Scotland, she is very spacious inside. Definitely a lot more space than equivalent monohull alternative, which is the main reason I bought her initially. She has 4 separated cabins, 2 of them are ‘double’ cabins (please take the ‘double’ with a pinch of salt) and the other 2 are single cabins. Also the saloon can convert into a double berth too. Hulls are in excellent conditions as you can see from the recent photos taken.
These are very solid 100% GRP (no balsa core). These have 2 pack polyurethane paint on them. The deck needs some domestic attention, mostly sanding and painting as you can see from the photos. Dagger board keels with aluminium drop plates for increased upwind performance. These can be also retracted so you can dry out on a beach or explore very shallow areas.
Navigation EQUIPMENTCompass, Deepthsounder, VHF and SoG GPS Speedometer with electronic bearing I have also a brand new wired wind speed and direction system that needs to be installed with a new set of LED navigation lights. I was planing to do this job this winter. Both are brand new in the box, they just need to be installed. General Electrical Equipment50W Solar PV panel and dual battery charger. You will not need to be connected to mains to charge batteries or worry about running out of batteries as this solar system has kept the batteries fully topped up during the winter.
Also there is installed an outboard charing point too to top up the batteries while running. There’s a WiFI GSM router to provide Wifi while on the go the family, you will need to supply your own SIM contract for this, the rest I’ll leave behind.Individual 2 x battery charing status monitors displaying battery voltage, charge status and time to charge / discharge. Mains socket in the galleyIsolators with link switch Deck EquipmentSwimming ladder, Tender (Avon) with outboard board and seat, also cockpit cushions. This outboard was bought brand new in March 2021 and still has 4 YEARS WARRANTY LEFTThis is the EFI version so no carburator clogging. General commentsThis particular vessel is the vessel that won the Round Britain race (see historic photo). She is in the water right now and ready to be sailed as I usually do with my kids around Troon. One of the things they love is when I get almost in touching distance to a sandy beach and just play with water toys with them there. When finished, get dry aboard and have a nice cup of tea and snack! Or adult drink too!
MAINTENANCE NEEDED I have all the epoxy and paints to do the deck maintenance that she needs to look a to nicer. Most of the work is cosmetic, except where you see the tape on the front deck. In this area the previous owner had screwed some non slip planks. The screw holes for these need to be sealed, epoxied, sanded and painted. I have all the materials so you don’t have to buy anything.
You can keep her blue or pain in non slip grey which I think she would look nicer. You can take these with you. There’s also some gelcoat on the cockpit to seal.
