40 foot steel motor cruiser. Possible live aboard with commercial potential. New Horizon is a steel hull and decks with wooden superstructure originally built in the mid eighties, fitted with twin Perkins T6.354 turbo diesel engines giving 165HP each and contra rotate, twin rudders and shaft driven propellers. This boat has an interesting story, the first owner who commissioned the build would have appeared to have the boat built to his specification but never saw it launched, the boat lay in a boat yard on the south coast for some years and was then bought by the second owner who had aspirations to use it as a live aboard and do long distance cruising, he had the boat moved to a boat yard in Topnes, Devon in circa 2002, he started to personalise the boat but unfortunately became ill and was unable to continue, the boat was left on the hard stand for some twelve years until it was bought by the third owner in 2014, whom set about refurbishing the boat which included servicing the engines and running gear, fitted with a Garmin plotter depth gauge, fish finder. The fly bridge was re-roofed , the hull anti-fouled and re painted as was the superstructure, the boat was then launched for the first time in May 2016 and moved to Sutton Marina ,Plymouth and put up for re sale in September 2016 when we purchased it, using it for a few weeks in and around Plymouth before moving it to the river Tyne, before the move we had a full survey done for insurance purposes copies of which are available to potential buyers.
During our ownership we have had the propeller shaft seals re done, the wiring inspected and all repairs required by a professional electrician and the engines checked over by an experienced mechanic replacing such things as the impellers, thermostats, glow plugs, the engines are still being run in and are currently prone to smoking on cold start which clears once they are warm they have only done less than twenty hours from new,Quick update the engines have been run under load for some 4 hours since the ad was first listed and the smoke has reduced considerably. The boat itself is very able with good sea keeping qualities and handles beautifully in a rough sea, the engines have a lot torque which makes the boat very manoeuvrable on the throttles the fly bridge is not fitted with a wheel but berthing is very easy using the throttles only , she will cruise comfortably at ten to twelve knots, it is a very spacious boat both inside and outside with a large self draining cockpit good wide decks would be suitable for Fishing parties or diving as well as a live aboard.SpecificationHull Steel and decksSuperstructure wood and fibreglass Lenght 40'0" 12.19MBeam 14'0" 4.26MDraft 3'0" 0.91MEngine Twin Perkins T6.354 Inboard DieselsAccommodation 5 berths in 3 cabinsFuel tanks 1200 litres half fullFresh water tanks 1500 litresimmersion tank 100 litresHolding tank 100 litresThere is also a Ducati diesel generator fitted in the engine room which is un testedElectronic EquipmentGarmin Echo map 55 DV Wheelhouse helmXM Yachting DSC VHF Radio Wheelhouse helmFuruno radar wheelhouse helmSearch light]Electro pneumatic trim tabs with 12v compressorNavigation lightsVarious spotlights Layoutthere is a large aft rear cockpit which is self draining, bathing platform with ladder, ladder to Fly bridge, rear door to main saloon/wheelhouse, once in the saloon there is a sold Beech drop leaf table which can be pulled out and the second leaf raised, with stools, forward is the helm position, and to the port side a large galley area which includes four burner hob, 12/240v fridge, 240v socket, mixer tap with 1 and 1/2 bowl and draining board, new microwave, double 240v socket various draws and cupboard taking the central steps down to the midships cabin there is a settee/single berth and to the wall a new 22" JVC television with built in DVD, large glazed windows with blinds and roof hatch with 12v lighting to the ceiling, all starboard side, to the port side is a door leading to the shower room with new Jabsco sea toilet, new fold down sink with mixer tap, recently refurbished with pvc wall cladding, 12v light above the loo and 12v lights to the ceiling, porthole and electric vent, plus a standard 600x600 shower unit with glass door shower tray and power shower supplied from the immersion tank, this shower is better than the one we have at home, then forward is a single berth cabin which would easily convert to a double or twin bunks, again 12v lights to the ceiling electric vent, and hatch 240v double socket, forward again to the large airy front cabin which comprises of large V berth with storage below, wardrobe, seat with storage, 240V double socket with usb charging sockets, 12v light to the ceiling and 12v reading lights, large forward facing windows with blackout screens hatch and further forward an escape hatch, new foam mattress just fitted, and the cabin has just been refurbished new photo's to follow, at the front of this cabin is a cupboard that stores the battery for the electric anchor system which has controls at the helm and on the fore deck. The fly bridge is fitted with twin throttle controls and some instrumentation , two seats, stainless steel radar arch, spray screen and a large solar panel that charges the 12v system,The Boat has nice wide decks around the superstructure which are two feet wide in places and the whole boat can be walked around with ease.We can consider part exchange of a car, caravan, small boat, motor home or Rolex watch, payment by bank transfer or cash. This is realy something that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated so with that in mind viewing can be arranged for most times, the boat is currently moored in Newcastle upon Tyne. phone days or 0phone anytime.
