‘Grebe’ is a 45’ 0” long, 6’ 10” wide narrowboat with private mooring, built by the ‘Teddesley Boat Company’ in 1975. She is a transom sterned, flat bottomed, wall sided, single screw narrowboat with a steel hull and wooden sides and has a shaft-driven diesel engine. This is a rare opportunity to buy a narrowboat with a central London mooring in Little Venice BSS was completed this year. All fixtures and fittings are included in this sale. ---Engine Bay--- The engine is a Chinese copy of a ‘Yanmar’ 4J, 2-cylinder, keel-cooled, 26 HP marine diesel, Engine #5110005.
She has two fuel tanks with a total capacity of 100 litres. ---Electrics & Solar--- She has an Engine and Domestic circuit with 3 leisure batteries and 2 starter batteries. Domestic electrics include: LED cabin lighting, 12V fridge, water pump, steaming light, shower pump out, bilge pump, and horn. A number of 13A double-sockets are fitted, for use when shore power is available. The domestic and starter batteries were replaced in late 2018.
The solar system was installed in late 2018 and set up as follows: Victron SmartSolar 35A 150V MPPT Solar Charge Controller 2 x Panasonic 245W 12V/24V Monocrystalline Solar Panels Victron Battery Protect - 100 Amp During the summer months this is enough to run the boat without charging from the engine, additional solar panels could be fitted. ---Hull--- Her hull is constructed of mild steel, and sides are wooden top of ‘Cascover’, i.e., nylon scrim impregnated with ‘Cascamite’. ‘Humbrol’ Cascamite is a waterproof, synthetic resin adhesive used typically on exterior boat woodwork. In a survey conducted September 2018, “The stem, stern and bottom plating were hammer tested with an engineer's 1 kg ballpein hammer and found generally sound”. Blacking was last done in January 2019 along with 8 new anodes.
---Galley--- The galley is equipped with a solid fuel Rayburn stove, which serves to heat the boat in winter and cook, there is also a 2-ring gas hob in the galley for summer use when Rayburn is off and 12v refrigerator with freezer compartment. The galley sink has pumped hot and cold water. A gas water heater provides hot water. Two gas lockers astern accommodate ‘Calor’ Gas bottles. ---Heads--- The bathroom has a shower and chemical toilet.
Blackwater disposal facility is within walking distance. ---Bedroom--- The bedroom has a double bed with lots of storage and lockers, the water tank is located underneath the bed ---Mooring--- The mooring is located within Paddington basin, a 3 minute walk from Paddington Station. There is water available on the mooring, and plans for mains electric to be installed. There is a friendly and supportive community of 5 narrow boats at the private mooring. Supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, great transport links and Rembrandt Gardens are within a few minutes walk.
