***Narrowboat share - 4 weeks per year - school holiday entitlement*** This is a lovely 58ft narrowboat that was built in 2011. It has many modern internal features and is a very eye-catching boat from the outside. We have had many lovely holidays on Adagio and have therefore decided to buy our own smaller narrowboat which is closer to home. What is a narrowboat share? Going on a narrowboat holiday is a wonderfully relaxing holiday that people of all ages love.
You can moor up in a city centre or in the middle of the countryside - it is so varied and can cater for any taste/interest. Most people hire a narrowboat for a week or two (which we used to do) but unfortunately this is very expensive in both peak and off-peak times of the year. Having a narrowboat share gives you more time on the narrowboat at a fraction of the cost. When you buy a narrowboat share you are one of a number of owners that co-own the boat. The larger the share, the more weeks of the year you get on the boat.
There are 14 owners of Adagio - some with 2 weeks, one with six weeks and the others with 4 weeks each. This share entitles you to choose from school holiday weeks. Sometimes owners will not use one of their allocated weeks so it is offered out to the other owners at no extra cost - this is something we have benefited from. What is Adagio like? Starting from the rear, dropping down the steps you enter the saloon which has built in seating that converts to beds, storage cupboards and under-stairs storage and a wood burning stove.
There is a built-in flat screen TV, a DVD player and Radio / CD player. Then you come to the dinette, dining area, which converts to a double berth, with freestanding table. There is a chiller drawer under the seating. Then you enter the galley with full domestic sized gas oven and grill, separate four burner gas hob, fridge/freezer, 230v microwave, a dishwasher and granite worktop. Then the cabin bathroom offers a full sized shower, basin and a pump out toilet.
The double bedroom at the front has a full sized double bed, storage and washing machine / tumble drier. There are steps out of the double bedroom leading to the front of the boat where there is further storage and fixed seating. The boat is pet-friendly but is non-smoking. This narrowboat has everything on it that you need for a great holiday. You just turn up with food and clothes and off you sail!
The only extra you have to pay for is diesel and toilet pump-out. Annual running costsBuying the share is a one-off payment as it covers your percentage ownership of the boat. Each year in May each owner pays their contribution to the annual maintenance/mooring etc of the narrowboat. For this 1/12th share, this annual cost is currently £1,932.67. This can be paid annually or monthly starting in May.
This includes all costs, including Gas. The only extra costs are diesel fuel which depends on how far you go and a toilet pump out which is normally about £20. LocationAdagio is currently based at the brand new Dunchurch Pools Marina which is close to the M1, M6 and M40. The marina has been designed by the architects responsible for the Eden Project in Cornwall. Parking at the marina is free and secure.
It is in a great location as it is at the centre of the Three Junctions Area which acts as a link connecting the waterways of England and Wales north and south and east to west. There are lots of interesting canals to explore near here. Please note that we have a week booked very soon during the Easter holidays which we are willing to include in the sale price - w/c 7th April 2018. You could expect to pay about £1500 for a 1-week hire on a similar boat over Easter! The prices we found for a summer school holiday week is around £1800!!
