Lady Andorina has been located on the Scottish Caledonian Canal for years and was most recently used in a commercial venture as a Tourist Bunk house offering people the opportunity to sleep onboard the big girl for a nominal fee. Located next to the Eagle Barge Inn, she has been a good commercial venture but sadly, COVID has of course put a stop to that. I am sure she could be converted into a very luxurious air bnb style vessel or do as we intended and look to recommission her as a sailing vessel. We recently purchased her with the intention to live aboard, however a rather sudden change in health circumstances have put a stop to that idea. As such we are putting her back on the market.
65' length 17' beam Gross weight of 52 tonnes (Net of 43)2" pitch pine planking below the water line with oak beam frame. Teak decking with Mahogany topsides. 5 cabins comprising of:- large king size owner cabin in the after, with 2 double bunk cabins as well. This suited us as a family of 5. There is a head with shower and toilet off the hallway and the owner cabin also has a head with ensuite shower / toilet.
Up forward there are a further 2 double bunk cabins with another head and shower. This was refurbished around 2000 and is still dry and usable. Our children have slept in here several times already. Very comfortable. There is a private access hatch to this end of the boat which would have been for crew use.
Very large Salon with radiator, seating for 7-8 and a large folding table. Plenty of storage etc. Large Galley with very large freezer and a seperate fridge. Unknown condition, as I havent tried these. The freezer looks like it should be ok but the fridge looks like it wants replacing to be honest.
There is a washing machine tumble drier in the kitchen as well. No oven, but there is an electric induction hob. There is no gas on the boat, so its alot less complicated. We would remove the washing machine and fit a new in in the engine room (plenty of space in there) and fit an electric oven in the empty space in the kitchen. Note that the 240v on the boat works fine and there is presently a mains powered system providing 24v power (Batteries need replacing) Pilot house with all controls:- radar, Chartplotter, twin throttle controls, hydraulic steering, autopilot etc etc.
These were all top of line in 2000 when they were fitted. The new owner might like to think about replacing these now though to bring them more up to date. However, they do appear perfectly usable and power up etc. Two 130hp Vetus Turbo Diesel engines were installed in the early 2000's and have covered relatively little at 1500 hours. Vetus 10kw diesel generator in soundproof box.
I have done a visual inspection of the engines only, and generally they look ok. With just the odd bit of superficial surface corrosion on paint etc. Oils all look ok but all the filters should be changed etc and a general once over before starting them. The batteries are all beyond use and need replacing, probably some of the main cabling etc too as its getting quite old. The engines room itself is very cold and has suffered with some surface corrosion on bracketry etc.
It needs a good clean, rubbing everything down and painting etc. The dynavolt alternators driven off the engines (giving the engines the ability to provide 240v power) will need replacing etc. Hydraulic pump for the windlass is located in the engine room and is driven off the stb'd engine. Port engine can drive a large pump for a fire hose on deck and also the air conditioning system. There is a large Webasto water heater in the lazarette locker but the plumbing to this has been disconnected.
However it looks like this could be recommissioned. At present this has been replaced by an electric water boiler in the engine room. There are radiators throughout the boat as part of central heating system, as well as blown air conditioning air. Sails etc are all present, as is a very large liferaft (but very much out of date) all manual winches are free and usable. There is a hydrualic winch located in the lazarette than has suffered with corrosion.
It may be repairable though with some careful strip down and rebuild. New roller reefing and genoa fitted in 2004. There is still a present Boat Safety Certificate in place until the end of the year and insurance as non moving canal boat as she is at present was just £230 for the year. Woodwork - The forward half of the deck has been painted with some form of antislip rubber paint. Probably to reduce water ingress.
It is coming off in several places. Personally, it was scraping off and bringing the teak deck back to full glory. The after teak deck is in good condition, Just needs a good clean and seal. The masts need similar cleaning and varnishing to preserve them. Boom varnish and handrail needs stripping off and varnishing.
The fwd toerail has been removed at some point and should be reinstated. The hull appears generally solid but will need some work to bring it back to good condition. There has been some damage from when it appears to have pushed into the pontoon handrail. Note the handrail lost and has been completely sheared off! Due to being left unheated and unattended for the past year, it has suffered with water ingress from the deck / cabin.
We have sealed up with tape temporarily where we believe the water was coming in above the kitchen and this appears to have stopped it. The aft cabins have suffered from leaks around the toe rail and a lack of heating in the Scottish highland winter environment. We have installed a dehumidifier though and this appears to be helping. Alot of water had been coming in from the lazarette locker hatch which had drooped and was just channelling water in. We have put in place temporary protection to alleviate this.
This is a project vessel and ideally wants someone that can spend a fair amount of time on her to bring her back to good condition. There is a similar sized vessel in both woodwork and specification for sale in the USA for $2.5 million! Obviously she will be very much worth the time and investment and we are very sad that we will not be able to enjoy this project. Note picture of her in the sling is when she was lifted, along time before we owned her. She has no present up to date survey.
Just the Boat Safety Certificate. I am happy to answer any questions at all - I am available on 0phone. I am looking for a quick sale due to the health issue.
