UPDATE! The boat will only be available till Sunday afternoon. It will then be off to for brokerage (around £26k). If you have funds available the last chance to view/buy at £23k will be Sunday afternoon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------For sale is our project 70ft 1980 Traditional narrow boat, due to illness we can no longer take on the project.
Her condition is reflected in the price, and she is very much a working project. She has recently been overplated and 6 new anodes which cost just shy of £14,000. She has had 3 coats of 2 pack Dacrylate Pitch-Epoxy hull blacking including overplate. I have a copy of the steel work report from the boat yard which confirms the work undertaken. She has recently had a new gearbox too, fitted at the boatyard at just over £1,500.
Her BSS is valid until September 2020, she also had some work done for this too which also cost just over £1,000. There is an inverter on board which we haven't used, this also needs looking at this isn't currently connected and the boat currently only runs on 12v. The inverter has been overloaded at some point so it has been disconnected – this is not to be used. The engine runs but needs some attention and some good TLC. The obvious things to note are that the engine bay is quite oily.
She is very open plan she currently only sleeps two but there is a void space which we only used for storage and she has lots of potential for more berths. She has a large living and kitchen area with a multifuel stove. The kitchen has a instant hot water heater, gas hob and oven along with a 240v fridge. The boat has radiators throughout which are powered by a Webasto Water Heater which also heats the hot water for the bathroom. She has two water tanks on board.
In the bathroom there is a small bath, sink and a porta potti. She is powered by a Vetus Diesel 310A502 engine has 4 leisure batteries, 1 stater battery and two solar panels. The engine bay does require a good clean out. Headroom on the boat is a little limited, I'm just under 6 foot and it's OK for me and the previous owner was a lot taller but it's personal preference and something to bear in mind if viewing. The paintwork on the outside is tired, the back doors need attention – they ideally need replacing.
As described this project would suit someone who has scope of a big project – she has so much potential, yet she's not for the faint hearted.Upon a viewing today the choke on the single lever control isn't working at the moment, I think a cable has come out or is loose as the gearbox has only recently fitted - i'll get the boatyard to have a look at this. Please do not 'buy it now' if you have no intention of purchasing - please arrange a viewing beforehand. A non-refundable deposit of £500 is payable prior to completing the transaction. No unrealistic offers please she is priced accordingly to her condition
