Engine Make: Tohatsu 6hp 4 stroke
FOR SALE - Achilles 24 sailing yacht, Triple keel - Sail number 102 (built around the end of the 1970’s). The Achilles 24 is a solid little cruiser / racer that can be fun club racing or cruising further offshore. This boat is in relatively good condition and ready to sail off into the sunset, but as with any 40 year old boat there are always jobs to do. The past 5 years I have spent a lot on upgrades to make the boat comfortable for weekends away with 3 bunks and a small galley (cooker, sink, tap and water tank). Its fun to race in local club races with laminate racing sails, and capable of doing the odd cross channel trip.
It is set up for sailing single handed with roller reefing genoa, lazy jacks, reefing lines and main halyard led back to the cockpit. She is great for learning to sail on being very responsive and forgiving. She is also quite solid when the wind picks up (this type of boat has crossed the Atlantic!). The good points of this boat - the sail wardrobe with white cruising sails (main (ok), genoa (needs uv strip), working jib (ok)), laminate racing sails (main (very good) and genoa (good)) and cruising chute (good), lines led back to cockpit and all rigging in good condition, reliable Tohatsu 4 stroke 6hp outboard (MFS6C), it is a dry boat inside with no leaks, new cabin insulation and vinyl lining, cabin wood work re-varnished, new switch panel and cabling, vhf radio, new depth finder, new Nasa LED tricolour / anchor light, the hull and deck are sound with no soft spots, everything works as it should. The jobs to do - there is a small section of rubbing strip that needs to be replaced (sea picture), the cabin window lining panels need to be finished (I have all material cut ready to go, just need to be put in), but these are not things which need to be done immediately, you can still go sailing!
I am selling with basic kit to get you going – fire extinguisher and blanket, first aid kit, 2x buoyancy aids, chart to the Solent, 4x fenders, 4x mooring ropes, main anchor with chain and warp, bucket and sponge, boat hook, flag and staff, sail wardrobe, outboard. Included in the sale is a sheltered tidal mooring in Langstone Harbour near Southsea Marina. It gives roughly 2 hours either side of HW Portsmouth access. This is paid up until next March 2019 and costs £140 a year including harbour dues. The mooring is owned by me and I will transfer this to you.
If you plan on moving the boat you do not have to have the mooring. I expect payment within 7 days of auction ending. You are bidding to buy. If you would like to view the boat or see more photos then please send me a message via classifieds board. If you have any questions about the boat then please feel free to ask.
