Featured Refinements: Sailing Yacht
Main sail is roller furling and in fair useable condition, same for the foresails with some rust strorage marks. Interior is smart enough but there’s always stuff to do on boat. The windows are plastic and Not leaking but will probably need replacing in the future. Plenty of work has been done on it over the last few years. The skeg hung rudder was cut out and removed due to rusting out; was replaced with new galvanised steel and is solid now.
The skeg offers protection in case of hitting any underwater obstructions rather than the rudder itself taking the brunt of the force. Achilles 24 Sailing Yacht Triple Keel. Great solid boat which presents well and with the triple keel design can dry out safely if the need is there either planned or unplanned! Known to sail pretty close in performance to the fin keel version but without the worry of running aground etc. In original gel coat which is fair for its age and has various marks as you’d expect with a boat of its age.
The Achilles 24 has a great reputation for being tough and sailing very well for its size. The engine sits in a well in the cockpit when in use and can be removed and replaced with a fibreglass plug kept on board when under sail to reduce drag and create a more streamlined shape under the water line. Even if you’re new to sailing you can cruise using the engine to learn the ropes as it were and then learn the sailing part later, but it’s a good one to learn on. Comes with various fenders, ropes and equipment, manual bilge pump, a depth gauge, gas burner hob, sink and has two full length single berths and one small double. Engine is a Mercury 4hp 2 stroke that I have only recently purchased to replaced an older one.
Very low hours and as you can see from the photo in very nice condition. The boat has been launched and lying in Gillingham, Kent. It can be sailed away from there or if you have a trailer that you would like to remove it on etc can be recovered on the slipway nearby at no charge to the buyer. If you have a mooring or area in mind then that’s of course fine, but it is also be possible to apply to become a member at the club where the boat is kept currently if that was your wish. Here is a short video of the boat sailing up river on 17th July 2020, apologies for it being portrait mode.
May be necessary to cut and paste in to browser: https://youtu.be/YrrUy2yYIeU Available for a quick sale as I have a new boat in sight and as it is ready to sail no delay in enjoying it straight away this summer. Thanks.
