Achilles 24’ Yacht Project - Coastal Cruiser/racer

24’ cruising yacht, Achilles 24. £500, any sensible offer accepted. Sold as a project - it is watertight below the waterline but not seaworthy. Currently has been out of the water for 4 years under restoration. The exterior is in good condition with minor cosmetic repairs only needed.

The interior needs complete restoration. The deck bots for the main stays need replacing - the wooden sandwich has rotten and replacement must be fibreglassed back into place. No other area of the cabin or GRP is affected and the deck has no soft spots. Comes with all spars, rigging, sails etc. The onboard engine has been removed as an outboard was fitted.

I have an engine in pieces if you would like an inboard. Currently held on a fully roadworthy trailer that can be used to transport/delivery. This is available on separate negotiation. The trailer the yacht is stored/transported on is in good roadworthy condition. EXTERIOR The deck needs a complete acid scrub and cleaning to remove excess moss and lichen growth from the upper deck, the anti-slip coating needs replacing on the upper decking. The anti-rub strip around the top of the hull is in reasonable condition and requires only sanding down and varnishing to bring back into full use apart from the transom area where it needs replacing in its entirety. The hull is sound and reasonably good order requiring only sanding down and repainting above the waterline. Below the water line the anti-foul paint needs renewing in its entirety, the keel weight needs stripping to metal and anti-rust proofing before the anti-foul is re-applied.

The stern post is sound and in good order the rudder fitments require re-greasing and the castellated nut on the bottom of the rudder is missing. The outboard motor mount needs the wooden facia replacing. The stepladder needs refurbishing to bring it to full use. The propeller shaft requires re-greasing and sealing. INTERIOR The inboard engine is missing.

The interior is in very poor condition and mostly will need renewing. The electrical system will need replacing as the system hasn’t been updated since construction. The interior vinyl coating needs replacing in its entirety as it is peeling from the GRP moldings. The window coverings need replacing as age has fogged the Perspex and made them brittle. The interior roof covering has delaminated and needs replacing.

The storage bins around the edge of the cabin area has rotted in many places and needs replacing. The bilge boards are rotten and need replacing. The sink unit is inoperable. The foreword hatch weather seal needs replacing. The main cabin ventilation vent needs replacing.

MAST and RIGGING Mast requires refurbishment. Main boom refurbish. Spinnaker boom needs to be refurbish. Steel rigging wires need replacing. Rope rigging/stays need replacing.

Safety rails needs replacing. There is a few deck fittings that need replacing due to age and wear. The capstans are in good order and work within design specs.
