They are much like the Lexus models that Toyota produces. They were designed to be marketed as the opulent “Flagship” Model of US Marine ( Brunswick Marine) and in reality shared only a handful of parts with the Bayliner ARRIVA was the brand created to Succeed the "COBRA" brand of boats. Cobra was the early and mid 1980's Performance orientated boat of choice, and ARRIVA was the next generation (late 80's and early 1990's) Performance orientated successor. Arrivas are now SUPER rare.
Only 1 Arriva was made per 650 US Marine boats during its period of production across 7 variants ( three different lengths, I/B and O/B and Closed and Open Bow), and cost approximately 30k to 40k when new. This particular variant generated production of around 200 boats approx during its production ( it is impossible to tell exactly as HIN numbers were random ) Interestingly it appears that around 60% of Arrivas were shipped or sold in Europe, notably to Italy, England, Spain, and France - In order of most prevelant. They were manafactured for 4 years between 1989 and 1992. The numbers of all variants still in existence is VERY low, and research of this particular variant i.e I/B, Open Bow across international owners clubs, sale lists and posts suggests there are less than 30 of these left in the world many of which are parts boats. In the UK I am aware of only 2 boats including mine ( one in poor repair) and less than 5 across Europe.
Why do i have One I bought an Arriva Bowrider ex Demo / New in 1990 from Windermere Aquatic in the Lake District. I bought it because it was the quickest and coolest looking boat they had for sale. I used the boat for 4 years on the coast in Swansea skiing like a mad man ( it will pull three mono’s with ease), and sold it reluctantly when I moved to the Midlands. In 2009, after 14 years of pining i went on the hunt for my/or an identical boat. It transpired that my boat had been stripped for spares in 2003 after engine failure but after 2 Years of hunting, one appeared on classifieds board and without hesitation i paid £5,000 to buy the boat an then the fun started.
