Avon Adventure 620 Rib Boat

Hi there and welcome to this auction of my AVON Adventure 620 rib. It is here to be sold and although there is a reserve it is set very low. I will describe the boat fully but will state from the outset that the Honda 130 engine has suffered internal damage and has been independently assessed by Caley Marine in Inverness who examined same and found the only damage was to no 4 cylinder where the bore is scored and the head has some marking on it as well. The repair bill if completed by themselves I considered to be too expensive and I have decided to sell the boat as is. They have also valued the boat in its present condition at £6000 to £6500.

Now, I know there will be many people out there who have the ability to repair this or source another engine for not too considerable a sum of money and therefore it will be excellent value for the future owner. Prior to the engine letting go (at very low speed I might add) it had completed a little over 600hrs and I have a full and detailed receipt of works carried out at its last service by Ferry Marine in Livingston costing a little under £600. It is an excellent boat, very well equipped and comes complete with a Hallmark Roller coaster trailer with new wheels and tyres including a spare (not new). The brakes have been disconnected on the trailer for ease of use. For information, everything else works as it should on the boat and the specification is as follows.

Avon 620 Adventure Rib, manufactured in 2000 and mated at that time to the Honda BF130 engine (there has been no other engine on the boat and the transom unmarked in that regard) The trailer was also original to the boat and is a Hallmark Rollercoaster 1800 which tows easily. At the time of commission the present owner had a unique (outrageously expensive) double "A" frame made that is exceptionally strong and hosts all the navigation lights, VHF foldable ariel and radar. It looks as good as new. The double console seats have recently been recovered and they as well as the console have separate fitted waterproof covers for when the boat is on a mooring. Both have fire extinguishers fitted and there is storage underneath including the battery and kill switch.

The boat has three petrol tanks. Two housed in the console with separate switching and filling on the port and starboard sides and an external 25l tank. In total 125 litres of capacity. The console also houses the VHF, Garmin 300 colour fishfinder, Garmin Chartplotter, handheld Magellan rechargeable (on the boat) GPS and chartplotter as well as all the separate switches for same. In front of the console there is a double padded and upholstered seat with large storage underneath and up front there is a separate storage area for the anchor in a bow locker (small crack in lid but no water gets in).

There is an external and internal bilge pump as well as an elephant trunk for rapid dispersal of water if needed. The tubes are in good condition and hold air indefinitely although one of the grab lines needs reglued which will be done prior to sale. The boat has previously been antifouled and if you wanted to could either re done or painted although it has never bothered me as you don't see it when its on the water. The hull has some minor scratches to the antifoul but nothing really and is very solid. Lastly the boat has the original all over cover which still protects against UV but is thin now in places.

As stated previously there are separate covers for the console and seats in any case. So there it is. If the engine was in order I would expect a hefty price for the boat with this spec and I know what it needs cost wise to repair it but I do not have the time to complete just now so it is offered for sale at a very realistic price to let the new owner fix or replace the engine and still have a great boat for a fantastic price.
