Barbican 33 Sailing Cruiser Yacht

The Barbican 33 was designed by Maurice Griffiths and is a shoal draft, long keel with centre-plate design (for which the designer is well known), and has a reputation as a robust, high quality and seaworthy cruising yacht. Red Dawn IV has sail number 24 and therefore is about half way through the production run and she was fitted out to a somewhat higher structural integrity than the standard Barbican. The hull was moulded in 1986 by The Barbican Yacht Construction Co. And the fitting out was completed by her first owner and launched in October 1990. White GRP hull and superstructure and light blue painted non-slip decks.

Tiller steering with a skeg hung rudder. Extra internal ballast in the form of lead ingots bonded to the hull sole. The underwater area of the hull was epoxy coated from new. The centre-plate was replaced in 2010 when the hull was treated with Coppercoat antifouling. She is equipped with a Raymarine Radar and Chartplotter, Radar reflector, Hasler wind-vane steering gear, two Autohelms, Taylors diesel heater, Refrigerator, Gas cooker with two burners oven and grill, Sprayhood and Cockpit tent, Liferaft, Inflatable dinghy and out-board motor.

The layout provides two quarter berths in the fore-cabin that converts to a spacious double, two berths in the main cabin plus a pilot berth to starboard. Fully battened Mainsail, Roller furling Genoa, Staysail and Storm Jib, and a Cruising Chute that flies from a removable bowsprit. The boat is presented in excellent condition with a full cruising inventory and is in commission and ready to sail away. She was prepared recently for cruising the continental waterways and has freshly overhauled and laundered sails, new propeller shaft, cutlass bearing and shaft seals, new starter motor, new fresh water pump and has three mast supports for carrying the mast on-board. A much loved and cherished vessel that has been in our ownership as only the second owners for over 10 years.
