Bates Starcraft Kays Venture 40'

Welcome to our auction of Kays Venture. She is a proper classic wooden boat, built by Bates of Chertsey in 1958. She is 40" in length, with an added flybridge at some point in the past. Her hull is double diagonal mahogany, with teak decks. She has a forward cabin to sleep 2 with storage.

The galley is well fitted out, with a hob, oven, running hot and cold water etc. There is a shower room off the galley, with sink and sea toilet which also diverts to an inboard tank. The saloon is well finished with the wheel and controls to one side. The rear cabin is a double, with ensuite toilet and built in wardrobe. Sorry the curtains are closed in a lot of the pictures, but I can send others if required.She has had a huge amount of work over the last five years, including decks lifted, new superstructure timbers, and all decks re-fittted.

All work was done by a professional boat builder, not someone who does a bit of woodwork every now and then.She has been completely re-wired, both engines stripped and rebuilt/serviced, lifted out recently for a full hull strip and paint, new carpets and curtains etc etc. There is a recent set of custom made covers to go with her. All diesel tanks were recently drained, flushed, and refilled to avoid any potential diesel bug issues. There is an Eberspacher hot air heater which runs off a separate kerosene tank. Water is heated by a large water heater tank, so you have plenty for a shower etc.

The hull was surveyed while she was lifted, and any suspect timbers were replaced. Both props were professionally refinished.In excess of £50k has been spent saving this wonderful boat, with all invoices and hundreds of photographs to show every stage of the work. The reason for sale is she's simply too big for my dad to confidently handle solo, so we are downsizing.Viewing can be easily arranged, and she is currently moored at Conyer in Kent. Delivery could be arranged at the purchasers expense, after full payment has been received. Payment by bank transfer only please.
