Asking price: £4,600 - delivery available in UK ( with Shiply ) PRICE REDUCED FOR QUICK SALE DUE TIMEWASTER's 1996 Bayliner 2858 – Absolutely stunning – has everything and ready for season I have owned this boat for over 11 years and to be honest had no intention of selling her, but due to being made redundant last September I have now just started a new job that will see most of my time spent outside of the country. Having only visited the boat 4 times last year it is now even more unlikely that I will get to use her at all this year. So seems crazy to pay the mooring fees and not use her, so will pass her on for someone else to enjoy. The Reserve is low as I would like to give someone the chance to either get into boating or upgrade from their smaller boat to this one and start using her as we use to.
She is so much fun and to be honest in the last couple of years we have no doubt only put 8 hours of use in! I imported this boat in 2006. The boat has had no expense spared and had alot of upgrades in the last couple of years as I hadn’t planned to sell her, so you are going to get an outstanding boat who ever wins this. The boat is 28.5ft long, although with the swim platform it brings the boat to near 32ft (9.6m). It has a great sounding 7.4L V8 Mercruiser engine and brand new Mercruiser Bravo 2 outdrive.
Sleeps 6 people (inside), but can sleep another 4 under the canopy (like being in a tent). It is CE tested and plated (so not a grey import), and has full UK VAT paid status on it (have all the documentation you need if you want to cruise abroad). I re-did the seats inside with a beige leather material to brighten her up. For those that know these boats you will know the seat covers are a dark mess of colours and the worktops are dark grey. So I also lightened the worktops to a beige and had brand new deep pile beige carpets fitted throughout, so I have never allowed shoes to be worn inside.
I left the bedding areas in the original colours, but all of these were removed and professionally cleaned. Therefore the interior is in very nice condition. The boat came with no canopies so I had the rear and top canopies custom made and this was like adding a conservatory to a house, it gives you a useable and dry space outside all year round. As the clear plastic canopy windows on boats after a time start to go dull, I had all of these removed and replaced last year, so if you are as fussy as me then these will not need doing for another 8 years! It also has a metal frame over the flybridge that has a top cover that zips on to it for shade in the summer.
I decided to leave the 110v system and plugs that came as standard with the boat onboard as this allowed for greater choice if I decided to cruise abroad, so I therefore wired in parallel the 240v UK system. I changed all the lights to LED ones and added Blue Mood lighting for when we watched films and these are all controlled by remote control. To watch a film you need a TV and I fitted 2 TVs and DVD players, one to the dining area and one to the main bed area. There is also a satellite freetop box that did connect into a dish, but I have since upgraded to an internal aerial so you can watch your BBC’s or Dave while eating. I also fitted a new microwave oven and full size electric under counter fridge with wine rack next to it.
There is also an electric Pizza oven and kettle and the option to re-fit the hob that I removed. To be honest we have only done lunches or had take aways on the boat and have never cooked on the boat for dinner as there are so many restaurants within the mariner and when we visit the boat we see this as a mini holiday so who cooks when on holiday J There is also the onboard stereo (like a car radio). Inside there is a main bed area to the front, the dining area / table also folds down to sleep 2 and underneath this there is also a 2 berth bed. There is a place to steer the boat inside and a kitchen area. The toilet / shower area has never been used since I have had the boat and I use it to store stools which can provide additional seating at night.
The storage inside is out of this world, there is so much of it from under the bed, seats, counter and also behind the seats that everything will have a home. On the back I have also got 4 folding wooden chairs and a table which is a great area to sit out on for lunch. There is no carpet on the back currently but this could be replaced if needed. The engine is a 7.4L V8 Mercruiser and has 2 new up-rated batteries fitted as well as 2 C-TEK trickle chargers so you are always ready to go. Bad Points, well not such bad points, but things that I would have done this year: 1) Top canopy is dirty from the winter and I would clean and re-waterproof.
It also needs the centre holder re-stitched but does work as it is. You can get this done in the marina. 2) One side the fender has rubbed off part of the blue sticker (see pic on dropbox), I would replace this if I had kept the boat. Original Bayliner side trim decals can be bought on classifieds board, various colours so you could change this to your favourite colour. 3) Compass on flybridge has lost some liquid, so although I do not use it, I would replace to make it look good.
Although I cleaned it before Christmas, the weather was not good so needs a proper clean when sunny to make it shine. Again comes with boxes of cleaning kit.
