Wonderful Boat, brings a smile to my face just looking at it. It is as stated a 17ft Deluxe Glassic Tri Hull, or basically an early Cathedral. If you were really looking to enjoy yourself on the water, it oblidges. Go fishing, water sporting or just pose, as this boat attracts a lot of admirers. Its got a replacement V6 3Ltr ford engine which Gurgles and rumbles Deeply, very smoothly and is surprisingly quiet on normal running.
It was bought from an old fella who used it on the South Coast mainly for bass fishing and now needs nothing much more than a little tlc to be as she was in 1964, or use as is! The boat is incredible for its 54 years and I don’t know it’s actual history, I wish I did, only that it must have been completely re commissioned not so long ago by an enthusiast/Engineer at one heck of a cost. Sound and solid Hull, deck, bodywork engine and mounts etc. The trailer itself is a bespoke masterpiece, perfectly balanced and embraces fully, every aspect of towing, launch and retrieve, fully galvanised with perfect tyres and bearings, it also has a number plate board extension bracket which extends beyond the prop for full visibilty and removes to allow for the fitting if the floatem poles. I covered 250 miles on purchasing the boat and about the same since with a 1.9 Tdi Vw caddy maxi (mini motor home) so a larger engined car or 4wd and it will fly.
Good things.. Snakeskin custom cover like new, imported from America at a cost of £400. Mushroom venting pole, no pools or mould!! Massive amount of spares, almost a complete replacement leg. Leg is fully powered and goes way up and down easily. Included are the rare engine cruising covers, should you prefer to use them, in grey primer as is the other.uniquely designed and engineered galvanised auxiliary engine mount which will hold any outboard (should be patented).
Auto bilge pump, horn etc. All the electrics are properly done and work, as do the very rare nav lights and concealed deck lighting. Transom seal has been lovingly replaced at some point with no leaks at all. New parts are still readily available for the boat and there are a number of passionate on line forums for this boat providing a wealth of knowledge and spares, should you need them. It is a large imposing boat for its class and is suitable for offshore and coastal motoring and fishing providing a very large and stable platform to do so ( boat rated for 8 people) Not so good bits...Steering is now a bit stiff, mainly it would seem to need some grease through lack of usage and the springs are corroded of which I have two new ones to supply with the boat.
Consul gauge bezels corroded, but still work. Leg and other decorative fittings have paint oxidation and would benefit from polishing or painting. Hull as stated is solid with no repairs, but like most would look new with a coat of white anti foul. She goes on the plane at about quarter throttle! I was predominantly intending to keep her for my retirement but it’s still a few years away and I get less and less opportunities to maintain and use her due to ever changing work commitments, so for this Reason only I have reluctantly decided to let her go. She was winterised (with anti freeze) and is now back, up and running.
It’s a lot of boat and kit for anything like this money and an appreciating classic. To the very best if my extensive knowledge, there isn’t another in the U.K. The trolley dollies in the photo are not included, only used to shift her sideways easily, if you want them I’ll put them for sale, as I also have a lovely set of well matched Decor style stainless steel boat rails, which are also negotiable. I had taken a ton of photos to show it best but can only load 12 on the listing, so if you need more, let me know. Don’t miss out this summer and thanks for looking, hope you like it.
