'Monoleen 1954 Sabberton Bros. Motor Cruiser' Hello, welcome to this listing... “Monoleen” was lovingly built back in 1954, she is one of only two of this particular model of vessel ever built and was beautifully hand crafted by the Sabberton bros. Boatyard in Wroxham, Norfolk. (Later Sabena Marine). Please also see a picture attached of ‘Caroleen’ from the same era.

(Just to add some nostalgia !) http://www.broadlandmemories.co.uk/1950sgallerypage8.html Unfortunately Monoleen has fallen in to a state of disrepair, and isn’t quite as beautiful as she once was. Her main frame, keel and hull (Oak) are all still in very solid shape. However; as you can see from the pictures, some of the carvel planking has been removed and regrettably never replaced, leading to the ‘elements’ finding their way in and doing what nature does best. (please note she has been under tarpaulins and regularly checked and had her bilges emptied etc. And is now safely out of the water, on the quayside where she has been for the past month) The previous owner who had lovingly cared for Monoleen for many years, unfortunately became just too sick to carry-on restoring her, and this ill health has now meant he will never be in the position to be able to carry-on the strenuous work that is required to return her to her former glory, or indeed be able to ‘cruise’ her again anyway; even if he could.

Monoleen’s vital statistics: Her rear (Teak) deck was fully replaced in late 2012. She is 44ft in length. Weighs in at 13 tonnes. Her remaining carvel planking is Iroko. She has a reconditioned DAF 6 cylinder diesel engine (only around 40 hours of actual running time – so barely even ‘run-in’).

Living quarters: She comfortably sleeps 5 adults (4 berth) with the use of the wheel house seating as an additional bed.
