Campion Explorer 492cc Sports Utility Fishing, Speedboat, Day Boat With Trailer

Here we have our Campion Explorer 492cc Sports Utility Speed/fishing/Day boat. 'Tom Boy' is a Canadian Sports Utility boat, 5.31 metres long. We (3 mates) purchased it July 2017 and have used it probably 5 times each season. It was supplied new in 2004 to a customer in Essex, it then went to Cardiff and spent its time as a yacht tender. Going from ship to shore for a newspaper occasionally.

We have all of the original paperwork. We initially stored it in dry storage at Salcombe, Devon, took it out/launched and used it for weekends of fishing and fun. We have more recently used it in Barmouth, Teignmouth and Torquay. We moved it from storage last year to Taunton (one of us lives on a farm) and it has been stored there since. It is not our first boat, therefore we had an idea of what we wanted when we were searching for a boat.

I don't think we had imagined that 'Tom Boy' could have been so good. It does everything and more, and we have comfortably fished with 3/4 people onboard, it has a fabulous centre console and two swivel platform helm seats, it has numerous rod holders, an under-seat full size cool box, a fish/water storage tank, we have BBQ'd with a bolt on side tray. It has a swim platform with ladder, a full automatic front anchor, automatic bilge pump, fenders all round, 12v supply, 25 gallon onboard fuel tank, ship to shore radio, fish finder/ chart plotter, front screen, seating for 6, storage lockers. I am sure I have forgotten things but as you can see for a 5.3 metre boat it is fully loaded and very little in the UK at this size comes close. It sits on a Bramber Boat Trailer, plated and weighted to suit the boat.

Fully braked and also just serviced. Spare wheel (mounted on the front) it tows beautifully. The engine is a 75hp Mercury, (2003) and also includes a tohatsu 5hp back up/trolling motor. The engine has just had its full 3 year service, receipt attached, included in the service was a new rectifier/regulator, impeller and thermostat done at Wills Marine, Kingbridge (mercury dealer) It has recently had a new marine battery 120 amp hr, it runs perfectly and easily planes (even with the extra weight of the outboard) and runs up to 35mph. We estimate about 100 hours on the engine.

We haven't towed any toys/skis however this is easily within its capabilities. The engine was supplied new with the boat. The boat is rated to 100hp. As we purchased the boat with 3 of us obviously the costs have been shared. We are all busy working so when we have made time for using it it had to be right therefore nothing has been left to chance.

It runs superbly and will stand any sea trial/test in fact this is something we recommend as I am confident nothing comes close to this compact package. We are only selling as we just don't get enough use and work has taken over leisure ! If you have a look around youtube you will find a few reviews and full boat tests on the boat. They are of slightly newer boats but very little has changed.
