Designed by John Winterbotham and built by Tom Lack of Christchurch in Dorset in 1978. It was classified as a pocket cruiser with blue water sailing in mind. She is masthead rigged with a relatively short mast contributing to a stable boat. She has never flown a hull in any circumstances under sail and she will cruise at 6 knots in a 10-12 knot wind maintaining 35 degrees apparent. With her 9.9 hp outboard she is quicker than most similar boats with twin diesels due to their extra weight and drag.

First impressions of "Kainoa" is the amount of space, storage and comfort below. She is perfect as a family cruiser and extended blue water sailor. The inventory on this vessel is impressive. The present owner is retiring from sailing so apart from the obvious personal effects everything on the boat is remaining, so she is bought as you see her.
