The elevation and plan drawings from Jim Andrews' book"Catamans for Cruising" are of a Mk.I Catalac 9M.Our MkII has more stylish windows and fixed rudders,(not the MKI fold-up dinghy-type rudders). The wheelhouse is open at the rear. When the hatch is slid forward, there is standing headroom aft of the saloon seat.
There are two forward cabins, a double to port & a single to starboard. (Many couples remove the plywood separation wall to create a very capacious owner's cabin)A single cabin in the port quarter, & a pilot berth amidships starboard. The saloon table even will drop to form another double berth The original Renault engines were replace by two more powerful Kubota diesel engines: one is 2-cylinder and the other is 3-cylinder.When motoring, only one engine need be used. Navionics and extras include:A superb Garmin 65cv EchoMap GPS/Chartplotter, with fulldigital maps of UK, Ireland, and the EU coast from Hamburg to Brest.VHF radios (fixed and handheld), shore power lead.A selection of pilot books & paper charts. There is a comprehensive selection of tools and equipment.Binoculars, lanterns & assorted deck hardware.Electric autopilot (wheel-steering)There is a captain's seat at the wheel.
On deck, there's two anchors & a hand windlass: (i) standard Brittany type, (ii) Rocna-type spade anchor. Lots of anchor chain, mooring ropes, spare ropes & fenders.Twin bow lockers, plus anchor chain locker,& several lockers in the very spacious cockpit. The dropped sheer makes for very easy access to pontoons. Included is an almost new Seago 230 inflatable dinghy with bench seat, outboard bracket, and inflatable floor; no floor planks to store! PLUS an Evinrude 2-stroke outboard motor.
Jim Andrews' book explains the benefits of catamarans; he owns a 9M himself! His Catamarans for Cruising" has a Catalac 9M pictured on the cover. Mooring rates are very competitive.Shore power is available. However, you'd need to join CYBC and apply for the mooring.(iii) We are currently having both Kubota engines serviced, after whichwe will be happy to show buyers the boat, subject to COVID rules.
