Selling my Channel Island 22 Motor boat. The semi displacement hull provides superb comfort at sea, it is effectively a mini pilot boat so will take you comfortably through nasty chop without the slap slap of most powerboats with planing hulls. The disadvantage is outright top speed. But she will do 16knots flat out, cruising happily around 12/13knots sipping fuel compared with any other motorboat. Great now we can use Red Diesel again as very cheap to run.
She has twin Ford Meteor 1.6 diesel engines which are fed from separate fuel tanks & filters, separate starter batteries & have separate sea water feed pipes, filters & pumps. This was one of the main reasons I purchased the boat as coming from a sailing background I was not happy without having more than one option for power to get me home. I purchased a motor boat following several sail boats as my work is busy and I was struggling to explore new areas with the slower speed of the sail boat. However, after 3 years I have decided to go back to a smaller classic sailboat as it is the sailing part I really enjoyed, and now having one on a trailer as well as my camper means I can tow it to different areas, explore by sail and camp on land... or maybe sometimes on board or on a beach. Since getting my sailboat I was thinking of keeping the motorboat for longer weekends on the water as it is a small home on board where I can have fun, fish, explore and even set up my computer and work at anchor somewhere nice.
But it has not moved this year and has just sat in our garden on her trailer, thus I am going to sell it on to someone that will make better use of it. I keep the boat on a tri-axle trailer at home in the driveway (not included in the price, available separately... but I can deliver the boat on this to your marina at cost if this helps with ease of purchase), as our use is always sporadic I hate having to worry about a boat left in the water and I can keep her clean, do jobs on board, start the engines and keep the batteries topped up etc... She is 28 years old so please do not expect a new boat, there are several things on board that I have been working through and there are still jobs to be done if you want to really spruce her up. I have concentrated on ensuring she runs well, is safe type jobs inc... Changing helm controls, compass and GPS system positions as were all up in front window...Servicing of both engines inc. Cooling system cleanouts. All new filters, oil changes for engines and gearboxes etc... Port engine when started last time seems to have lost it's glow plugs system.
Could just be a bulb, could be fuse... I will need to look into this. I'm struggling a bit on time due to work commitments but thought I'd get this up and advertised. You can see the boat as she is and you will see from the price she is much cheaper than other Channel Island 22's one here as there are jobs to be done. Can use as is, I have done, but be nice to get her proper ship shape. Hull is thick and will outlive us all I expect, nothing serious wrong with the boat, just needs some love like any classic boat or classic car.
There is a v-berth in the cabin, small kitchen area, separate toilet. I will try to get better pics of the boat for those that are interested. I have a few videos of her on the water from last year also that I can hopefully make available somehow. The boat is several thousand pounds cheaper than others for sale at present with the best engine setup. Mainly cosmetic works to make her into a really nice boat again.
