LOCH BROOM POST BOAT 14'-6'' complete with road trailer. All excellent. £3650. 'Tansy' was built by Character Boats in 1991 following development of the original version by Bill Bailiff based upon the boat used to transport post etc to the various communities round the lochs. She was featured and reviewed in 'Watercraft ' magazine. Her beamy hull, long keel , absence of centre plate and large amount of storage locker/ space results in a large open cockpit make her an ideal boat for the family with the potential to be used for overnight camping.
The previous owner had the boat refurbished by Character boats in 2001. The work included casting ballast into the keel drainage channel and glassing it over. In 2007 the original mainsail which had been damaged by mice was replaced by a new one from Jeckells who also refurbished the stay and jib sails . Tansy was then put into storage and to date has remained un-used . The original rope standing rigging has recently been replaced by stainless and the running rigging appears in sound condition.
The hull is built of hand laid fibreglass to a very strong specification and was re -polished by Character Boats when they refurbished her. There are some minor scratches\ scuff marks commensurate with careful use and her age. An internal well is provided for an outboard. The woodwork has an oiled finished and is in good condition. The road trailer was built by Character Boats in 2001 specifically for this boat with a lowered centre section which facilitates launching and recovery .
The trailer appears almost like new and to have covered few miles. Tyres are excellent and there is a spare wheel. Holding down straps are also included. Other items included in the sale are :- A) All- over mast up cover in excellent condition. At present this is secured by ropes passing round and underneath the hull which although suitable for land storage would possibly benefit from being modified by having lacing hooks screwed to the rubbing strakes and shock cord loops.
The cover extends slightly below the gunwales which would probably make this feasible. B) Pair of oars in good condition. C) Anchor and chain but NO warp. D) Bilge pump fitted in stern locker. E)Four fenders.
F) Tiller control lines. PLEASE NOTE : THERE IS NO OUTBOARD INCLUDED - several owners use the small Honda 2-3 Hp outboard which can usually be picked up in classifieds board reasonably cheaply. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : 'Tansy' is only available to U.K buyers who have also actually seen and inspected her. The boat is located in mid -Dorset. If you're a long distance away and are genuinely interested then I'm happy to send you photos of any particular area you're unsure about.
However as the boat is stored some distance away it takes time/ money to provide this information and it will be appreciated if you satisfy yourself of the feasibility of making a long trip to view the boat before asking for this information. The above may seem an odd thing to request but I recently had a gentleman who after several queries and requests for further photos which I duly provided . He then decided it was too far to come ! Anyone who is within reasonable travelling distance is welcome to see the boat the coffee is free although of doubtful quality and as I'm retired I can probably fit in with a time to suit yourself. If you wish to contact us by 'phone the number is 0phone. If we're not available PLEASE leave your own number and we'll get back to you a.s.a.p.
