Classic Freeman 22 Mark 1 narrow 6ft 10 wideproject boat with Ford 105E engine spares or repair Here is a great opportunity to purchase a classic Freeman 22 mark 1 boat in need of restoration complete with paperworkThis is a great chance to purchase one of these sought-after boats that can fetch £7k plus when restored.Trailer not included but can lift on to your transport. These iconic boats cost as much a London house when built new in the 1960's. No expense was spared on fitting out even down to the drinks cabinet with a place specially designed for a bottle of Booths gin, Mr Freemans favourite tipple.Just imagine a nice cruise down the Thames going through Henley. All parts for these boats are still available from Sheridan Marine who are very helpful.I purchased this boat to do up but just have too many projects and it now needs somebody who will love it.This is the narrow version of this great classic boat so will fit on canals, etc. Making it a really versatile boat. Perfect for fishing weekends, holidays, etc.It has a double berth in the bow plus the table drops down to produce another double berth. The cushions are in reasonable condition and are usable.
They have been stored dry.The engine is a classic Ford Watermota 105E pre crossflow and turned over with a spanner last year. But I think it has stuck over the Winter but I have lots of spares for this engine if required. The boat needs full restoration. Inside appears quite sound. The mahogany panelling will require, varnishing and the odd repair but still good considering her age. The bottom of the main doors are not in a good shape and the cockpit area will need attention (see photos).
This would suit someone with woodwork skills. The hull appears to be very sound and has NO signs of osmosis so just requires a coat of paint. I started the prep work for this. The cabin roof has some tape over the odd bolt hole, etc where the windscreen was fitted to keep the water out. These will need attention but a simple bit of filling with gelcoat filler would suffice. The windows are in reasonable condition and will probably need new rubber seals. It has a gas stove with grill and a hand basin although these are all currently not connected up.
Stove has not been tested. There is a small cubicle containing a chemical loo. These boats were very well built so definitely worth lavishing some attention on and at the end of the day they make a good investment.Trailer not included but I can lift the boat onto your transport but would be difficult to lift onto a curtain sider lorry. So a flatbed truck or trailer is bestSo to sum up a great opportunity to purchase a real classic in need of attention and a loving home. Would make a great family boat perfect for the Thames, inshore waters, etc and a bit of fishingGrab a bargain.
