Classic Motor Cruiser Karenette, Gardner 5LW Engine, Boat Project

Originally Built in 1936 by P. Waters in Appledore to serve as a pilot boat in Bristol, Karenette was rebuilt to serve as a private cruiser and re-engined with a Gardner 5LW in 1974.The engine is in good condition and is very efficient having been rebuilt by her owner in around 1990.I intended to restore her as a live aboard but no longer have the time to complete the work myself. Her accommodation as it was when I first bought her consisted of two double cabins, heads, galley, Wheelhouse/saloon with engine room beneath. I have removed the rotten foredeck and the effected deck beams along with 2 sections of frames on the port side and the sheer strake on st'b'd side where leaks had allowed them to rot. Also removed is the interior of the f'w'd cabin, galley, and some of the stern cabin.The wheelhouse roof is constructed from ply sheathed in fiberglass and is solid aside from a small area at the front, the sides have at some point had their panels filled in so the panels have in places rotted, however the mahogany frame remains mostly in tact.

At 38ft in length her hull is solidly built from larch on oak and remains structurally sound with only a couple of areas requiring localised attention, (short section of one plank port side, sheer strake st'b'd bow, 2 small areas on the transom) She is currently out the water in a tent in Mylor bridgeviewing can be arranged and is recommended.serious enquiries only please
