Colvic Sailor 26' foot masthead sloop, bilge keel (encapsulated vertical keels). General description Please note that classifieds board has given me no option other than to offer cash on collection as a payment option, I cannot take that payment method. I can only take a bank transfer, sorry... Waterbug is a sweet little boat with a strong hull. Though she needs some attention to get back to a good standard and so is a project boat at this point. Standing room is good at about 5’8″.
I haven't sailed 'Waterbug' so bare that in mind when reading on. Hull The hull is in pretty good shape, though needs a clean and polish and anti-fouling. Maybe repainting. The grip patches on the deck need a repaint. The rudder looks to be in good order.
Rigging The mast, boom and standing rigging look to be in good order for the age. The running rigging really needs renewing, at least the main and fore halyard, plus the fore sheet. Engine Volvo Penta MD1B (10hp) single cylinder inboard diesel. I haven’t managed to start the engine, though it turns over well enough. I have fitted a new starter battery, which is kept topped up by the two 20w solar panels.
The control cables to the throttle and gearbox need replacing. (I have removed them to measure them (they are 6 feet long). Sails The main sail is possibly ‘blown out’, but is probably usable. There is a jib and another sail that I haven’t had out of its bag, but looks to be a spinnaker. I believe there is a second jib too.
Electronics Unfortunately there isn’t much in the way of electronics, though the depth sounder seems to work. I haven’t sailed her so cannot check, but the device boots and gives a reading of about 3′ which would be about right, beached. There is a marine VHF radio that is of unknown condition, and is old. Notes The mooring it is currently on is available with the boat and is at the head of a creek so is dry a lot of the time, making it a great place to work on the boat at a lower cost than being docked. The boat is 'along side', meaning it is only a few feet from land and is accessible on foot a lot of the day.
It is also well sheltered from the wind as there are high trees all around. The tide gets up to about 5m - 5.5m and the boat floats on 4.8m plus tides. There is a new small, inflatable tender, though no engine for it (it will take up to a 5hp engine). There are lots of spare lines. I have sealed the leaking windows, though they need replacing at some point as they are ‘crazed’.
The fore hatch leaks, so is currently covered to stop water getting in. One of the air vents in the roof leaks and is now taped up, again to stop water getting in. There is an outboard bracket for storing an outboard for the tender (outboard not included), or propelling the boat in case of main engine failure. There are also some tools included. Mechanical tool set and a basic joinery set (Saw, chisels, screwdrivers etc).
Unfortunately due to living over 250 miles from the boat plus health issues, I cannot make it to the boat for inspection or the sale. The health issues are why I have got to sell the boat. Payment to be made via bank transfer. Once the money is through, I will notify the boat yard that the boat is sold and send a receipt. Keys to be picked up at the boat yard.
You can go and see the boat - contact me (via classifieds board) for more details. I cannot offer delivery and so the boat must be moved by the new owner, or the mooring taken on by the new owner (taking on the current mooring will require the new owner negotiating with the boat yard). The location is beautiful and mooring fees reasonable. Any questions, just ask.
