DescriptionSea Jay, a Cox 27, is the relatively scarce Motorsailer variant. Built to order in 1989 by original owner. I'm the second owner and she has been well cared for and loved by both. She is no tippy racing yacht but rather a solid roomy cruiser with a deep safe cockpit and a powerful engine. She is unusual for a boat of this size in having both cockpit and wheelhouse helms allowing you either to enjoy the sun or shelter from the rain depending on the prevailing weather.
With her Long Keel and Bilge plates to sit on she can also take to the ground very safely. She is strongly constructed and feels like a proper sea going boat to sail. If you're looking for a stable roomy cruiser this could well be it! LayoutSea Jay has four births (Two Doubles) in two cabins with a separate Heads (Sea Toilet).DimensionsLOA 8.23m (27'0") LWL 7.29m (23'11") Beam 3.00m (9'10") Draft Max 0.97m (3'2") Airdraft 11.28m (37'0") Displacement 4,082kg (9,000.0lbs) Headroom 1.91m (6'3") MechanicalRaw water cooled Diesel Yanmar - 3HM 28hp (1989)Cruising speed - 6.5 KnotsThree bladed PropWheel and Tiller steering EquipmentGas heater (not tested)Electric Pumped fresh water 12v Fridge with freezer compartmentTwo burner hob with grill and ovenFM stereo Electrical3x Batteries, 1start and 2x 110AH leisure batteriesShore power10A 240v Maintenance ChargerSterling Alternator Advanced regulator NavigationAutopilot - Wheel pilot 5000Garmin GPSGarmin FishfinderVHFClipper InstrumentsCompass DeckAnchors, Warps & ChainsManual Windless2x large cockpit lockersLarge storage under cockpit floorFenders and mooring lines SafetyAuto Bilge PumpManual Bilge PumpDanbuoyHorseshoe Lifebuoy Good pointsShe has been out of the water for three years undergoing some improvements and has had gelcoat repairs and polishing, new rubbing strake and replaced timber on the dive platform. The sails are fully laundered, repaired and new UV guard on both Main and Genoa.
New head lining in the main cabin.Lots of new materials including lines for running rigging, Jotun Anti-fouling and primer, service kit for wind, new s/steel bollard for foredeck, deck light are included with the boat. Bad pointsShe will require a good scrub to remove the winter grime. The engine has stood for 3 years and although turns freely it will need a good overhaul and some fresh diesel in the tank. SummaryThis is a fantastic family boat that with a couple of weekends work will make a great example of this highly desirable craft. The boat is lying at Wells-Next-the-Sea, Norfolk on the hard and is available for inspection.
This is a very reluctant sail due to oversea work assignment and will be sadly missed. Only serious bidders please. I'll be leaving the UK at the end of March and not returning until the end of May for 2 weeks so a quick transaction is required. Payment by BACS preferred. Contact Russ 0phone
